knowledge and experience to bring chess closer to the general public.

The story of chess has been with me practically from day zero. Since my father
loved the game, it was a big part of my growing up. By the time I was 4 years
old, I had already heard the origin stories and legends of chess. The journey
from sixth-century India, through the Arab world and North Africa, to Europe and
the world. At that time, I’d already been playing chess for two years. At least
that’s what my father said. But mysteriously, Robert Fischer, who became world
champion in 1972, six years before I started on breast milk, was born on the
same day and hour as my sister – 2 PM on 9th March. Probably nothing.
