California's Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative (JETSI) Project

 

JETSI Workforce Survey: Key Trends and Challenges in ZEV Adoption

 


As more companies are deploying advanced technology, the need for a skilled
workforce capable of deploying, maintaining, and operating these advanced
vehicles.

The JETSI project’s Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Workforce Survey was designed to
capture essential insights into workforce readiness within the fleet industry,
focusing on the resources required to support and sustain commercial ZEV
deployments

Administered by JETSI project partner, TRC, the survey gathered insights from 80
fleets operating Class 2a-8 vehicles across California.

The survey data helps highlight the strategies, challenges, and opportunities
that fleets are encountering as they plan for, and deploy, zero-emission
vehicles and the workforce necessary to support them.

JETSI Project Recognized for Advancing Clean Fleets

The Clean Fleet Report recognized the JETSI Project for its innovative
all-electric truck deployments and leadership in air quality improvement in
Southern California. As Jim O'Leary, NFI’s VP of Fleet Services, said,
“Together, we are revolutionizing the trucking industry and paving the way
towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.”

JETSI project partners are collaborating to help the freight logistics industry
move beyond small pilot projects for Class 8 BETs and demonstrate how they can
be deployed successfully at scale.

Funding Partners

JETSI is jointly financed by California Air Resources Board and California
Energy Commission ( $26.98 million), South Coast AQMD ($5.43 million), with an
additional $41.37 million from MSRC, Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles,
Southern California Edison, NFI, and Schneider. The JETSI project is part of
California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of
cap-and-trade dollars to work on reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment,
particularly in disadvantaged communities.
