The simple act of marking barrels with spots of coloured paint would not only signify their age potential, but would become the namesake for this coveted whiskey, bonded and bottled by The Mitchells – a seventh generation family business. From our iconic Green Spot and Yellow Spot to our Green Spot Wine Geese series and the rarely spotted Red Spot you will find not only a fascinating past but also a lively future – Enjoy. GREEN SPOT QUAILS’ GATE A NEW CANADIAN COLLABORATION Celebrating Irish heritage, the collaboration between Green Spot and Quails’ Gate is not just the coming together of two unique stories, it is the fusion of two fascinating histories that as one deliver an exceptional whiskey. LEARN MORE MITCHELL & SON OUR STORY Since the 1800s Mitchell & Son has been the place to go for Dublin’s finest whiskeys. At first the family business began as a bakery café whereby women were sneakily served whiskey from ‘teapots’ and ‘teacups’ alongside men. The Mitchells quickly endeared themselves to Dublin’s ladies who lunch, and later in the century would switch to wine importing and whiskey bonding. From pastries and sweets to wines and whiskeys, it was never business as usual for the Mitchells. It’s a story that’s full of twists and turns even to this day. EXPLORE THE HISTORY OF THE SPOT UNDERGROUND ICONS The Mitchells matured their whiskey in casks under the busy streets of Dublin in a network of underground cellars. Here they were each marked with a daub or ‘spot’ of paint to identify how long they would be matured for. Blue for 7 years, green for 10 years, yellow for 12 years and red for 15 years—thus the name Spot Whiskeys was born.
