COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BAR EXAM


WHAT IS THE BAR EXAM?

The bar exam is a standardized measure of knowledge of essential legal subjects.
It is used to qualify passing test takers for bar membership and law practice.
Bar exams are typically 12 hours in duration and are taken over the course of
two days (Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday).

A bar exam is the initial step in admission to a state bar. After one passes the
bar exam, they will usually complete a character and fitness application to the
state bar including work and other references.

Bar exams have recently become standardized across state lines through adoption
of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE), which tests general legal principles as
opposed to state-specific material.


WHAT ARE THE BAR EXAM REQUIREMENTS?

In order to take the bar exam, test takers generally have to have graduated from
law school. Washington, Vermont, California, and Virginia allow those who have
not graduated from law school to take the bar exam.


TYPES OF QUESTION STYLES ONE WILL SEE ON THE BAR EXAM.

The bar exam has traditionally consisted of multiple choice and essay questions
requiring test takers to analyze the legal issues presented by a fact pattern.
Bar exams also usually include a practice component (aka "lawyering task") to
the exam commonly referred to as a "performance test" (PT).

On every state's bar exam other than Louisiana's, the Wednesday portion of the
bar exam consists of 200-mulitple choice questions testing the subject areas of
Civ Pro, Contracts, Con Law, Crimes, Evidence, Real Property and Torts. This
section of the exam is commonly referred to as the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE).

The Uniform Bar Exam consists of the MBE Multistate Essays (MEE) and Multistate
Performance Tests (MPT).

I passed the bar exam with 20 points to spare. I scored a 286, when passing is a
266. As a full-time lawyer practising in India, I had serious doubts whether I
would be able to pass the bar exam. I was looking for a bar prep course that
attacked the exam as opposed to a course that exhaustively covered the subjects
tested on the exam. With a young family and a full-time practice, time was a
scarce commodity. BarMax perfectly fit the bill. Its outlines focused on most
heavily tested areas of the exam. I was thrilled that Mehran, the owner of
BarMax got on a call with me to answer all my questions. I wasn't pushed off to
a sales/business executive. He was available at all times and shared his
personal cell phone number. In terms of cost, I paid a third of what others paid
for their programs and the course offered some serious value-for-money. One of

BarMax program. I wanted help with the writing portion of the exam. I told her
that the multiple choice portion of the exam was my strength but that I was

THE BEST MPRE COURSE OUT THERE!

PASSED THE TX BAR

I was struggling with the MPT portion of the UBE. I had one session with
Jennifer Carr a little less than 2 weeks before the February 2024 bar exam and
it was a game changer. She provided templates for the most common MPTs that
could be seen on the bar, and she gave helpful tips on how to maximize the
little time I had left before the test. The day before the first session of the
exam I reviewed my notes from that tutoring session. I went into the bar exam
with a game plan. When the first MPT was memo style I was confident. I typed out
my Jennifer Carr template like I practiced and filled the rest of MPT with the
facts and law provided. I passed with a great score! I feel my score probably
would have been even higher if I also worked with Jennifer or the essay portion

I passed my UBE first time with a score high enough to practice in any UBE
