NEW ASSESSMENT AND PROGRESS LANGUAGE FOR PARENTS

Welcome to the Ferndale Community School website. We hope that you take time to
browse our site and learn more about a school that we are very proud of.

I am delighted to have been appointed as the Headteacher of Ferndale Community
School at such an exciting time in the development of both the school and
education in Wales. It is a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to
work alongside the pupils, staff and community. We have many exciting
developments ahead and I am looking forward to observing first hand how the
school will continue to thrive and succeed for the benefits of all pupils and
staff.

We are situated in the heart of our community and aim to provide the very best
standards in teaching and learning. We provide an excellent learning environment
and opportunities, inside and outside the classroom, to allow each student to
thrive and succeed.

Whilst ensuring that the school remains happy, caring and inclusive we endeavour
to set high standards of self-discipline and hard work. Visitors to the school
are impressed by our students who are friendly, welcoming and keen to succeed.
It is important that we celebrate our success together and this website is an
excellent way of sharing our good news. We encourage our pupils and staff to
evaluate their own work as well as that of others. Therefore, if you like our
website, please tell us! Also, if there are areas where you would like to see
further development, contact us with your suggestions. Thank you for your
continued support in all that we are working towards together.

Mr. Nathan Prygodzicz.

This week our Year 11 students Nyall Thomas and Kaitlin Lewis developed and led
the Equality, Diversity and Respect Assemblies for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 pupils.

The pupils shared our school expectations. They, alongside other members of the
year demonstrated and provided an overview of cultural clothing and shared the
importance of accepting and understanding the tolerance among different groups
of people. They shared the importance of valuing the worth of each culture and
acknowledged that there is no one "right" way to live or think, even if we do
not agree. We should all be respectful.

The pupils receiving the information were well-behaved, interested and
respectful of the message. We are proud of our school community in our journey.

Da iawn pawb - ardderchog!

On Thursday 18th April, the GCSE Drama class went to watch an amateur production
of their GCSE set text, 'Blue Remembered Hills'. The class have been an
exceptional group of students throughout the duration of the three year course
and have shown each other great support and encouragement. Beautiful friendships
have been formed which we're sure will last a lifetime.

Miss Caswell would like to thank all the students for being such a fantastic
group to teach.

Some of our pupils have been involved with a project with Save the Children for
some time.

They have been working with the project to give their views and opinions in a
research study around poverty and how it impacts young people’s lives.

Yesterday the group presented to the RCT Communities of Practice meeting which
we hosted at the school. In this meeting they explained to our visitors what
they had done in the project and involved them in some activities.

They were absolutely amazing and they were a credit to our school.

They have a lovely reward trip coming up which they are looking forward to

Thank you to:
