CAMPUS LIFE


THE OFFICE OF CAMPUS LIFE (OCL) AT WILLIAMS

As a branch of the Dean of the College’s division, OCL’s role is to support
students’ co-curricular experiences and leadership development at Williams,
through Housing & Residential Education, and Student Involvement & Events.

In doing so, we work closely with many colleagues around campus, including those
in Accessible Education, Athletics, Campus Safety Services (CSS), the Center for
Learning in Action (CLiA), the Chaplains’ Office, the Davis Center, the Dean of
Students Office, Dining Services, Facilities Services, Student Health & Wellness
Services, the Zilkha Center, and others.

The Housing & Residential Education team provides advisement and support for the
students’ residential experience, including the selection, training, and ongoing
supervision of student residential leaders and their community development &
programming responsibilities, all undergraduate student housing assignments &
selection processes, data management, room key/code distribution and
check-ins/check-outs, and the student storage program in collaboration with Dorm
Room Movers. Programs include Life After Williams, Williams After Dark, Lyceum
Dinners, Quiet Housing, Co-Op Housing, SwALE Housing, and the TAPSI Housing
program. Several members of the HRE team participate in a rotation with several
members of the Dean of Students’ office to provide after-hours on-call support
for residential life student leaders and Campus Safety Services.

The Student Involvement & Events team provides advisement & support for
Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Student Government, All-Campus
Entertainment (ACE), the Williams Record, and the Yearbook, and they provide
logistical support for student-initiated programming & events including
advisement, temporary staffing scheduling & coordination, and risk management
collaboration with campus colleagues. They facilitate and execute several annual
campus-wide student programs, including the big three traditional campus
programming weekends (Homecoming, Winter Carnival, Spring Fling), Eph Moments of
Joy, the RSO Purple Key Fair, the RSO Jamboree, and others. They oversee Senior
Class Events both during the academic year and during Senior Week just prior to
commencement weekend. They are responsible for the day-to-day management of the
Paresky Center & Goodrich Hall, including usage parameters and prioritization,
determination of tech support & staffing needs, furnishings, and vendors, and
are responsible for programming at The Log as well as advising & working closely
with the student management of the Goodrich Coffee Bar. They are responsible for
the EMS room reservations system, both for day-to-day facilitation and overall
system management with campus partners and OIT.
