resolution of the shape is way too rough and causes bad distortion on images
making clouds wavy. If we're going to stick with the current Skydome technology
- one thing that REALLY needs to be changed in ORTS is the resolution of the
shape used to hold the Skydome image. That said - some of the ideas from our
previous environment thread would be a better way of doing things - like
removing clouds from the dome and making them sprites in the "air" independent
from the Skydome. I did both these step on my Skydome in the FL.

The final step is to then take the seamless texture and use what's called a
Polar Distortion Effect in PSP to shape the image appropriate for use texturing
a Skydome hemisphere. Granted there will be some obvious mirroring on the seam
but you can fix that with the "Clone Stamp". For Skydomes only horizontal tiling
is needed. That's pretty easily solved - both PS and PSP can make just about any
texture tileable/seamless in the horizontal, vertical, or bidirectional with a
couple mouse clicks. Other than that fatal flaw it looks good. It doesn't tile
so when the opposite ends come together somewhere in the sky it will be
painfully obvious there is a problem. Has anyone used this software before and

Railroad Backdrops: Finally - since this is our own work we could upgrade the
pretty plain Skydome included with the default ORTS download - greatly enhancing

stich together panoramic shots - to build them as wide as needed. You can
generate extremely wide high resolution screenshots of the sky and you don't
have to include an actual sun. It seems to have great potential for creating all
kinds of Skydomes that we could use to add some variety to ORTS. I've played
with the software a bit and in a brief time - I've loaded in DEM for terrain
(not needed for Skydomes) and added a fully rendered sky/atmosphere. The
software is free but the output resolution is limited - however - you can
subscribe for a reasonable fee around $15.00 a month for high resolution output.
From what I gather - Hollywood uses it to generate backdrops in movies it's so
good. The software generates terrain and renders ray traced images from it. He
used "Terragen 2 from Planetside" which appears to be a very powerful tool that
may help us generate Skydomes for ORTS. The backdrops are absolutely stunning
and caught my attention. In my travels - I came across a video where a model
railroader used a terrain generation program to create computer generated
backdrops for his model railroad.

In order to look good in ORTS - we need very high resolution images with a wide
focal width - ideally without the sun being visible in the shot to avoid the two
suns issue.

Skydomes as we have them now are difficult to make - mainly due to the lack of
good source material/images. Just curious - while there's been little work on
our ORTS environment for years - has any thought been given or plans been made
on where we're going with it ?

From left to right they are: return to home screen, film filters, lighting

preview the various effects. Unfortunately, you can't adjust the intensity of
the effects, nor can you crop or rotate an image. You can apply only one filter
of each type, but as you do, your photo changes almost instantly, showing you
its effect. Many of the same types of effects that you'll find in Hipstamatic
and Instagram are here, from faded and warm film filters to light leaks,
sparkles, and rainbows. If my math is correct, that's a lot of options. There
are 25 film filters, 30 lighting effects, and 31 frames to choose from. The
ruler contains the filters, lighting effects, and frames.

Pixlr-o-matic gives you three samples to experiment with, and it also provides a
thumbnail of the last photo you worked with, which you can tap to adjust the
filters and effects.Īfter you take a photo or upload a shot, the app displays

VSEE TELEMEDICINE KIT

According to VSee, several thousand physicians and hundreds of translators have
joined the platform to provide assistance. It also provides free telemedicine
software to link Ukrainian hospitals and clinics to create a nationwide
healthcare network via shared electronic health records and patient case
routing.

The platform is connected to Tesla’s Starlink internet network and its focus is
on battlefield wound and trauma, specialist consults for Ukrainian primary care
physicians, and direct-to-consumer primary and urgent visits. This
Ukrainian/English dispatch service, named Project Aimee, collects medical
requests and matches them with an appropriate physician. Last month, US-based
telemedicine company VSee announced that it would provide Ukrainians with free
24/7 virtual visits with American and European HCPs through its charitable
telemedicine platform, Aimee.

CTeL’s aim is to build a dynamic database of volunteer healthcare providers and
translators that non-governmental organisations in Ukraine can utilise for
virtual care support. In addition, led by the US-based Centre for Telehealth and
e-Health Law (CTeL), the Telehealth4Ukraine Coalition is working to bring
together telehealth providers to support virtual humanitarian healthcare efforts
in Ukraine and the surrounding countries. HTWB’s healthtech partners include
Ukrainian telehealth platform Doctor Online, US-based charity LeoDoc Foundation
(which has been providing free telehealth consultations to Ukrainians affected
by the war), Polish mental health digital platform Helping Hand, Estonian
startup Triumf Health (which is offering its psychological solution, Triumf
Hero, free of charge for Ukrainian children), and Estonian telehealth platform
Viveo Health. To date, more than 400 HCPs from more than 20 countries and more
than 40 healthtech companies are supporting the group. HTWB aims to help
Ukrainian hospitals cope with the influx of patients, provide psychological
support to those affected by the conflict, and support Ukrainian refugees. It is
an independent, global, non-profit organisation providing digital health and
telehealth aid, and launched the Ukraine Telehealth Relief initiative to provide
free telehealth and remote consultations to Ukrainians. For example, a group of
digital health professionals founded Health Tech Without Borders (HTWB) in
response to the crisis in Ukraine.

Several telemedicine coalitions have formed over the past two months. Due to
advancements and refinements prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic, telemedicine has
proven to be a critical resource during this new crisis, with many technology
companies and healthcare providers around the world stepping up to provide
virtual care to Ukrainian soldiers, civilians and refugees. The conflict has led
to an increased demand for services due to injured soldiers and civilians
disruptions to normal healthcare delivery due to damaged hospitals and other
facilities and injured, killed or displaced healthcare professionals (HCPs). In
addition, around 12 million Ukrainians have been displaced, with more than five
million people fleeing to neighbouring countries. On 19 April, the World Health
Organisation (WHO) confirmed there had been at least 147 attacks on medical
facilities across Ukraine, including maternity and cancer hospitals. Since the
beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, critical healthcare facilities and
infrastructure in Ukraine have been decimated by airstrikes and heavy artillery
shelling.

USE QUICKSILVER FOR MAC OS TO TURN OFF WIFI

It’s hard to believe that the first Graphite machines and the last Mirror Drive
Doors models are even related, if you’re just looking at the raw specs. The
impressive increase in power Apple packed into the machines over their five
years on the market is breath-taking in our time of most modest CPU gains. The
PowerMac G4 oversaw an amazing amount of change. The dual 1.25 GHz model was the
fastest ever to run the OS, and many of them served publishers and educators
well into the G5 and early Intel years. This last G4 tower was the final life
raft for those clinging to Mac OS 9. Hard disk capacity started at 80 GBs with
Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar preinstalled.īut what made the Power Macintosh G4 (MDD
2003) special wasn’t its specs, rather the fact it could boot into Mac OS 9. It
came in two CPU configurations, single or dual 1.25 GHz with 256 MB of DDR RAM
and a 12X Combo Drive. Unlike its predecessor, the Power Macintosh G4 (MDD 2003)
lacked FireWire 800, AirPort Extreme and built-in Bluetooth. Unlike its
successor, the Power Macintosh G4 (MDD 2003) lacked a G5 processor, aluminum
enclosure and USB 2.0. It replaced the six month old Power Mac G4 (FireWire 800)
that came before it. The Power Macintosh G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors 2003) was
released on June 23, 2003, alongside the new Power Macintosh G5. That goes to a
machine that, as Thomas Brand wrote on 512 Pixels, was somewhat unusual: The FW
800 was meant to be the latest and greatest, and it delivered on that promise,
but it wasn’t the final Power Mac G4. The high-end dual 1.42 GHz machine sold
for $2,699, the cheapest high-end Power Mac of all time.

The entry-level, dual 1.0 GHz machine ran just $1,499. While offering so many
new features, Apple was able to drop the price this time around. This was a big
deal for video and graphics professionals working with large files.īeyond
FireWire 800, this machine was the first Power Mac to support Bluetooth and
AirPort Extreme, Apple’s flavor of 802.11g. The new connector came with much
faster data rates than FireWire 400. January 2003’s “Power Mac G4 (FW 800)” wore
its new feature right on its sleeve: this G4 was the first to ship with FireWire
800. These machines all required Mac OS X, and were unable to boot into Mac OS
9. Above it were dual 1.0 GHz and dual 1.25 GHz models that both came with
166 MHz system buses, SuperDrives, and an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro video card. The
August 2002 G4s were the first to offer dual processors at all price points,
including the entry-level dual 867 MHz machine at $1,699. Named “Mirror Drive
Doors,” this case was much closer to the QuickSilver than the QuickSilver had
been to the Graphite, but the front panel was radically different, with its four
new air intakes and media drive doors gaining a mirror-like finish: Mirror Drive
DoorsĪugust of 2002 brought with it the final form of the Power Mac G4. It came
with a new 元 cache, as did the mid-range 933 MHz model. In July 2002, it was the
first Macintosh to ever break the gigahertz barrier, with a $2,999 model with
dual 1.0 GHz CPUs and 512 MB RAM at the high end. Unlike the Graphite before it,
the QuickSilver saw only one revision. The dual CPU model could run dual
displays and supported up to 256 MB RAM. An 867 MHz model (with a SuperDrive!)
sat in the middle, 1 below a dual 800 MHz system at $3,499. That meant that the
cheapest QuickSilver was the same speed as the most expensive Graphite. On the
inside, the QuickSilver started at 733 MHz for $1,699. The drive doors and
handles were more refined, and the front panel’s main feature was a large
speaker.Ĭompared to its siblings, the QuickSilver looks downright plain, but I
think it is my favorite of the three designs. It traded in its pinstripes for
smooth gray plastic. This second-generation case was cleaner and more
professional looking. Just a few months later, in July 2001, Apple took the
wraps off the Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver), a whole new case design that is my
personal favorite of the three. The high-end $3,499 model came with Apple’s
then-new SuperDrive, which could read and write both CDs and DVDs, a first in
the Mac line. The base model’s RAM and storage had increased since the first
model, now coming with 128 MB of RAM and a 30 GB hard drive for $1,699. This
final Graphite G4 came with faster expansion slots, Nvidia GPUs on most models,
and a new built-in amplifier designed to drive USB speakers.

Only the 533 MHz model could be custom-ordered with dual processors, thanks to
supply constraints out of Motorola. The Graphite Power Mac G4 saw one last
revision in January 2001, with machines now running at 466, 533, 667, and
733 MHz.
