Congressional Republican campaign committees shattered records for the highest
single-day haul of this election cycle following former President Donald Trump’s
unprecedented conviction in Manhattan.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) raised at least $300,000
on Thursday, topping the $175,000 in donations it received after the Oct. 25
election of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

The NRCC intake was first reported by Punchbowl News. The committee is chaired
by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC).

“The American people hate how the justice system was weaponized to convict
President Trump,” said NRCC national press secretary Will Reinert.

“They are opening up their wallets to protest Joe Biden and House Democrats’
kangaroo court, and they will deliver the final verdict with their votes this
November.”

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) also had a red-letter
Thursday with $360,000 in donations.

“Outrage over this sham verdict spurred grassroots Americans into action,” NRSC
executive director Jason Thielman said.

The NRSC’s previous record was set at $325,000 on Super Tuesday, when Trump
secured the Republican presidential nomination

Trump, 77, was found guilty by a Manhattan jury of 34 felony counts of fudging
business records to hide evidence of a $130,000 “hush money” payment made to
porn star Stormy Daniels in the final days of the 2016 election campaign to
conceal an alleged 2006 extramarital affair.

Crowds of pro- and anti-Trump demonstrators packed the streets outside the
Manhattan courthouse as the verdict was announced, waving Trump 2024 flags and
signs declaring “Not Above The Law,” depending on their opinion.

WinRed, the official donation portal for the Republican Party, crashed less than
an hour after the verdict, with House GOP leaders like conference chairwoman
Elise Stefanik (R-NY) spurring on the contributions.

On Friday morning, the Trump campaign announced it had raised a whopping $34.8
million since the candidate’s conviction.

“The historic surge of support for President Donald Trump totaling over $34
million in donations shows the American people taking action against the
unAmerican weaponization of our justice system and illegal election
interference,” Stefanik told The Post.

“Yesterday’s rigged verdict exposed the deep-rooted rot within Joe Biden’s
corrupt Justice Department that is an arm of the failing Democrat Party. The
American people know that the only verdict that matters comes on Election Day
when the people will elect President Trump in November to save America.”

One Trump campaign official told the Wall Street Journal that a fundraiser was
held at a private residence Thursday night.

Former Long Island Congressman and Trump campaign surrogate Lee Zeldin said the
same night on X that a “massive ask” for an $800,000 donation to the former
president’s joint fundraising committee the same evening had never been so
“easy.”

“I’M A POLITICAL PRISONER! I was just convicted in a RIGGED political Witch Hunt
trial: I DID NOTHING WRONG!” read one message from the Trump National Committee
Joint Fundraising Committee blasted out on Truth Social as news of the jury’s
decision broke.

“YOUR SUPPORT IS THE ONLY THING STANDING BETWEEN US AND TOTAL TYRANNY!” the
frantic appeal went on. “So I need 10 MILLION TRUE MAGA PATRIOTS to chip in and
proudly shout: I STAND WITH TRUMP!”

The Trump campaign took in $4.18 million the day after he was booked and his
mugshot was taken at a Fulton County, Georgia, jail in August.

The Georgia and New York City cases are two of four criminal indictments brought
against the former president ahead of the 2024 election, along with federal
indictments in Washington, DC, and south Florida.

Trump will be sentenced in Manhattan on July 11, one week before he formally
accepts the Republican presidential nomination. His attorneys have vowed to
appeal the decision “as soon as we can.”

National Convention, but his attorneys said Thursday they will appeal the
decision “as soon as we can.” Fox News

Johnson told radio host Hugh Hewitt in a Friday morning interview that “it’s a
certainty that it will be overturned.”

“We know that Michael Cohen perjured himself on the stand. He should have been
impugned as a witness, and he wasn’t, and the entire case is premised and built
upon his testimony,” he said.

“This will drag this out now for another month for sentencing and then all the
way through the convention,” he added. “That’s the game.”
