PECAN PIE BROWNIE BARS [1 HOUR]

Jump to Recipe

Lillian’s kitchen was the heart of her home. It wasn’t just a place where meals
were prepared; it was where memories were made. Her grandchildren often boasted
about her culinary prowess, particularly her legendary Pecan Pie Brownie Bars.

One sunny autumn afternoon, as golden leaves scattered the front yard, Lillian’s
youngest grandchild, Mia, visited her. Mia, an aspiring baker, had one mission:
to master the art of baking the famous Pecan Pie Brownie Bars.

“Nana, I’ve tried making it thrice! But I can’t get it right. Please, can you
show me the secret?” Mia pleaded.

Lillian chuckled, her eyes twinkling, “My dear, it’s not about the recipe alone.
It’s about the love you pour into it.”

As they began baking, Lillian shared stories of her own grandmother, from whom
she’d learned the recipe. The tales were of hardships, resilience, laughter, and
most importantly, the love for food that transcended generations.

Mia listened intently, savoring each story as she mixed the batter, the room
filled with the comforting aroma of chocolate and pecans.

When the final product was out of the oven, Mia took a bite. It tasted exactly
like the ones her Nana made! It wasn’t just the technique; it was the stories,
the history, and the love that made it perfect.

From that day on, every time Mia baked those Pecan Pie Brownie Bars, she felt
her Nana’s presence, and she always remembered to pour a little love into every
batch.

INGREDIENTS

 * ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
 * 1 cup granulated sugar
 * 2 large eggs
 * ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
 * ½ cup all-purpose flour
 * ¼ tsp salt
 * ¼ tsp baking powder

PECAN PIE LAYER

 * ⅔ cup corn syrup
 * ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
 * 2 large eggs
 * ½ cup granulated sugar
 * 1 tsp vanilla extract
 * 2 cups chopped pecans

INSTRUCTIONS

 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×9-inch baking pan
     with parchment paper.
 2. Begin with the brownie layer. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the
     melted butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat until smooth.
 3. Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until just
     combined.
 4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it into an
     even layer.
 5. For the pecan pie layer, in a separate bowl, combine corn syrup, melted
     butter, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
 6. Gently stir in the chopped pecans.
 7. Pour this pecan mixture over the brownie batter in the pan, ensuring it
     spreads evenly.
 8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until set and the top
     is slightly browned.
 9. Allow the bars to cool in the pan, then transfer to a refrigerator to chill
     for at least 2 hours before slicing.
 10. Once chilled, lift the parchment paper to remove from the pan and slice
     into 16 bars.

NOTES

Toast the pecans slightly before adding them to the mixture to enhance their
flavor.Using dark corn syrup can give a deeper, richer flavor.The bars can be
stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
