However, this year, employers continue to open jobs with activity up 74% since the start of the year. Talent is not answering the call. Job applications continue to decline, with activity 3% below January 2021 levels. We see shortages and shifts across all industries and occupations, including essential healthcare workers and the folks employers rely on to bring in talent – recruiters. The December Insights report taps into iCIMS Insights proprietary platform data to provide the latest labor market activity. Read more here. Labor market activity * The demand for talent continues as we enter the last months of the year. Openings continue to rise, now up 74% since January 2021. Historically, iCIMS data shows the end of the year bringing a sharp slowdown in employers opening new jobs but this year bucks that trend. Current job opening activity is more than 79% higher than the two prior Novembers (2019 and 2020). * Talent is not answering the call. According to iCIMS data, job applications have been steadily declining since September and are now less than where we started the year (-3%). * With this decline in applications also comes a slowdown in hiring. While hiring activity is up 56% since the start of the year, activity has been declining since its peak in September. Industry outlook * With the job market surging, the demand for HR specialists (like recruiters) is high. Openings are up nearly 100% since the start of the year, but applications per opening are down more than 50%. * Healthcare is facing a lack of experienced workers, with applicants skewing younger. 18–24-year-old job seekers represent the largest cohort of candidates in November 2021. Effective Monday, December 13th, we are making the following changes to enhance your support experience: * When calling into our tech support team as a standard support level customer, we will gather information about your inquiry, and prioritize your request. The appropriate technical support team member for your issue will respond resulting in a significant reduction in call wait times and faster resolutions. * Previously, we shared how we are prioritizing your calls from a single validated phone number. We have now expanded our validation to allow for two unique phone numbers per contact. * Please be sure to confirm your contact information is up to date by logging into our Community Site (the site you're reading this announcement on) and accessing your Community Profile in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. * To decrease the level of complexity, we are reducing the options in our phone menu. The sub-menus below the products will be removed and instead will be collected during the live information intake. As always, we welcome your feedback and encourage you to send any thoughts to feedback@icims.com. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to focus on your support needs. Today, we are kicking off our 2021 #GivingTuesday initiative. I am happy to announce we have selected three new, trusted charities that represent a range of charitable giving interests: SMASH, the Wounded Warrior Project, and The Trevor Project. iCIMS will donate $1 for every 5 points you donate – which will be distributed evenly across the three charities. To participate in this year’s #GivingTuesday, join our Advocates program and start earning points by participating in challenges! As an added bonus, we’ll extend our #GivingTuesday point donation program through 12/3 – so there’s still time to earn points and donate! "As companies strain to fill openings, from the C-suite to the shop floor, postings for recruiter positions have exploded, more than doubling since the start of the year, according to recruiting-software company iCIMS. Much like their clients, recruiting and search firms say it is harder than ever to hire for their own ranks, even for a job that can pay less-experienced recruiters in the low six figures to fill high-demand finance and technology roles."
