--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLAYER AND TEAM ELIGIBILITY

 * Any Winnipeg based club team created from a ‘selection’ process must rate
themselves a '3' (out of 5) or higher at the point of registration.
 * Any rurally based teams or any teams currently playing in the WMBA
Community Club leagues, rural or urban have the choice to rate themselves
anywhere from 1-5 at the point of registration.
 * All athletes listed on the roster form must be the correct age for the
category entered.  Teams found falsifying birth records will be immediately
ejected from the championships with no refunds issued.
 * An athlete may play up an age division, but cannot move down to a younger age
   division.  No exceptions.
 * Athletes may participate on only one (1) team in the tournament.  The player
is considered 'committed for the championships' once the online registration
has been submitted to Basketball Manitoba.
 * Teams must consist of a minimum of 8 athletes to a maximum of 15 athletes.
   No exceptions.
 * Basketball Manitoba reserves the right to reclassify teams into the
appropriate division based on their past performances and based on the
   overall tournament entry numbers.
 * All teams must register with a minimum of one non-playing head
coach (including at the 19U level) in order to be eligible for the
   championship.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

COACH / VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

 1. RESPECT IN SPORT.  All teams must have any coach (including head and
assistant) sitting on the team bench complete the online 3-hour Sport
Manitoba Respect in Sport program by the start of this event. Basketball
Manitoba will verify for full completion of the RIS Program. If you had
completed this prior to 2016, you must re-certify again with the new
material.  Teams who have not met this requirement will not be permitted to
participate in this event. Complete the course online at
    http://ris.basketballmanitoba.ca.
 2. COACHING GENDER REQUIREMENT.  A minimum of one member of each coaching staff
(not including managers or trainers) is to be of the same gender of the team
they are coaching (i.e. girls teams must have a minimum of one adult female
coach on the bench at all times and boys teams must have a minimum of one
adult male coach on the bench at all times).  Ideally, this person is a
member of the coaching staff or at a minimum can be a same-gendered parent
of one of the team members and must be present on the team bench for the
duration of the game.  Failure to comply will see the game in question
    defaulted to the opposing team.
 3. COACH CERTIFICATION.  Head coaches, in their 4th year and beyond with the
team, must complete their respective NCCP certification.  14U Coaches must
meet the coach education standard detailed below in the Jr NBA Global
Championship area. Information is at http://nccp.basketballmanitoba.ca.
 4. COACHES COACHING MULTIPLE TEAMS.  Basketball Manitoba strongly suggests that
each team have its own coaching staff.  Due to the large size of this
tournament and multiple sites, Basketball Manitoba is not able to make any
special schedule requests to accommodate coaches working with multiple
    teams.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14U JR NBA GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATION

Basketball Manitoba is pleased to partner with the NBA, NBA Canada and Canada
Basketball on offering Manitoba teams the opportunity to qualify for the Jr NBA
Global Championships set for this summer.  The winning Manitoba based male and
winning Manitoba based female team from the Manitoba Club Basketball
Championships at the 14U-A age level will move on to play a single game series
in June 2020 (date TBA) in Saskatchewan against the winning club team from
Saskatchewan (played using a Spalding basketball).  The winning team from that
series will go to Ontario in late June 2020, to participate in the Jr NBA
Canadian Championships.  The winning Canadian team will go on to represent the
country at the Jr NBA Global Championship in early August 2020 at the ESPN Wide
World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida against teams
from around the world.

Important Notes:

 * Player Eligibility & Team Size: Teams must have players born in 2006 or later
and will be capped at 12 players and 2 coaches only (no exceptions to age and
team size as this is the international rule) to play in the Saskatchewan and
   beyond games.
 * Coach Eligibility: The Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the team must have
their NCCP Learn to Train "Trained" or higher coach certification prior to
the Manitoba Club Basketball Championships for the team to be eligible.
Basketball Manitoba will be offering this 3-day weekend course in April
2020 in Winnipeg.  Details on the workshop can be found on the Basketball MB
   website in early spring.
 * Costs: All travel, accommodations and other tournament related expenses
beyond the Manitoba Club Basketball Championships will be covered by the NBA.
 * More information on the Jr NBA Global Championships, please go
   to https://jrnbagc.nba.com/international-regionals/canada/

2022 MCAC Women’s Basketball Championship Preview

Just over two years ago the last Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC)
women’s basketball championship was played. This season has seen three teams
compete hard throughout the year to capture the championship title in 2022.
Providence University College (PUC) Pilots is the host of this year’s MCAC VB
Championship on March 3-4 at Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre
in Niverville, MB.

PUC’s Associate Director of Athletics, Partnerships, Cody Quiring commented
about hosting the Championship: “Providence is excited to host the annual MCAC
Basketball Championships in the brand new home game facility of Providence
Athletics, The Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre. We look
forward to welcoming fans from near and far to watch an outstanding level of
basketball as these hardworking teams strive to capture this year’s title of
being crowned MCAC Champions.”

#1 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers to play in Championship final – 6
p.m. CT start on Friday, March 4

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers completed a perfect 12-0 regular
season this year. The squad is looking to defend the title they won in 2020 and
extend the CMU championship dynasty as they have won the last three MCAC
championships (2018-20).

#2 Providence University College (PUC) Pilots vs. #3 USB Les Rouges – 6 p.m. CT
start on Thursday, March 3

A semi-final match will determine who advance to the championship game. Both
teams have met five times this year with the Pilots coming away with a victory
during all the match-ups. PUC finished with a 5-6 record and would like to
continue their winning ways against USB.

2022 MCAC Men’s Basketball Championship Preview

Two years ago, the last Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) men’s
basketball championship was presented. This 2021-22 season has seen three teams
battle throughout the year to earn the championship title in 2022. Providence
University College (PUC) Pilots is the host of this year’s MCAC VB Championship
on March 3-4 at Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre in Niverville,
MB.

#1 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers to play in Championship final – 8
p.m. CT start on Friday, March 4
Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers finished a 10-2 regular season this
year. The squad is looking to win a conference championship for the first time
since 2017.

In 2021-22, the Blazers averaged 80 points per game while holding teams to 69
points during the 12 regular season games. CMU has suffered their only two
losses during the final four regular season games.

#2 Providence University College (PUC) Pilots vs. #3 USB Les Rouges – 8 p.m. CT
start on Thursday, March 3
This should be an intriguing contest as both teams have had recent success in
the second half. Both teams have also defeated the top seed Blazers in the month
of February.

The Pilots notched a 5-6 record and won four of five meetings against Les Rouges
in 2021-22. PUC won the last game by a 78-58 result on Feb. 12 on the road and
will have their home side cheering them on during this encounter.

In the first season back, USB has steadily improved and completed the regular
season with a 2-9 record and both wins came in the second half. Les Rouges won
72-70 on the road against PUC on Jan. 28 and completed the regular season will a
flourish when they defeated CMU 78-70 on the road on Feb. 25.
