Sydney Opera House, Zachary Huang, Sept 2007.

Greetings to all! We are so glad to read your reports, and so happy for your
achievements in 2007. We had a remarkable year, too.

Melissa is 16 years old; she is in her junior year. She managed to maintain all
As in her study and also works part time at a restaurant.  She was in the high
achiever program the past summer, and took the Philosophy class at MSU. With her
excellent drawing and writing skills, she helped design her mom’s business logo,
business cards, business labels, and the seminar talks etc.

David just celebrated his 20th birthday. He is a sophomore at MSU, his major is
accounting. He did very well. He worked at his dad’s lab the last two summers;
he helped with the beekeeping, assistant to the graduate students and
researchers. He got used to the bee stung now. He was very kind to stop his work
and took his sister to China to meet mom this summer.

After using the royal jelly for a few months, Guijie’s sleep improved greatly,
and also her overall health. So she decided to teach others about the bee
products, she set up her business in March. She taught at home first, and then
at local community education center. In July, with Zhiyong’s help, she went to
Beijing, Wuhan and Guangzhou to learn more about the bee business, and also
imported some good products. Her business helped many people with their
allergies, sleep, cold, menopause, and other health problems.

The three of them went to Heilong Jiang to visit Guijie’s family, they soaked in
the love of the big families at home, and also they soaked in the Balan river
when her family (25 of them) lead by her 80 years old dad to Piao liu (rafting,
in a big rubber boat). The three of them visited the Sun Island (Taiyang Dao) in
Harbin, and visited some placed in Beijing; stayed at Tokoyo for one night, and
had a good time there.  A photo by David won an honorable mention at  MSU’s
Global Focus photo contest.

Zhiyong is still flying around the world studying bees.  In March he went to
Nepal to volunteer, teaching beekeeping to local farmers (he won the 3rd prize
and honorable mention at the same photo contest, with two shots from Nepal).
The hotel in Tulsipur cost $8 a day and food was about $5 a day.  The first 2
days went without hot shower, reminding him how he grew up.  Anyone with skills
can help in third world countries, he signed up with Winrock International.  On
his way back he checked bees in Thailand.  The trip to China included stops at
Chongqing, Jilin, Harbin and Beijing.   In Sept he went to Australia for a bee
conference, and visited 4 botanic gardens shooting bees on exotic flowers.  Of
course, many of you might ask, is he working on the disappearing bees
(CCD=colony collapse disorder)? He is. He went to 3 meetings just for that and
has a grant studying it.  So far nobody knows what causes CCD yet, more work
ahead!

We thank God for the blessings we got this year, especially holding us together.
We thank Him for sending his messengers to help us. We are looking forward for
the New Year with His continues’ love and guiding. May His great love reach you
in a special way.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Guijie, Zhiyong (Zachary), David and Melissa
