ABOUT

Making Change Possible

Community Space Food Bank is a newly established independent 501(c)3 nonprofit
dedicated to addressing the climate crisis and hunger through practical
initiatives, partnerships, and education. With the implementation of law SB 1383
on January 1, 2024, mandating food agencies to prioritize donations to food
banks before composting or feeding livestock, there's an anticipated strain on
current food bank capacities. We advocate for the establishment of freeze-drying
centers across California and in every state, allowing us to efficiently handle
daily food waste intake and distribution in the community, safeguarding both
food and human dignity. With your support, we strive to eliminate hunger
entirely, preventing anyone from suffering due to lack of nourishment.

The Focus of Our Efforts




ALLEVIATE FOOD WASTE

AB 1383 mandates that, from January 1, 2024, all California establishments such
as schools, restaurants, hotels, etc., must donate surplus food to food banks.
However, a significant issue arises as food banks discard unallocated donations.
To combat this waste and ensure widespread assistance, CSFB presents a practical
solution.

MENTAL HEALTH AND BEHAVIORAL SERVICES

At our organization, we recognize the significance of mental health on par with
physical well-being. That's why we provide comprehensive mental health and
behavioral services. Our dedicated professionals are committed to assisting
individuals in navigating their challenges and guiding them towards lasting,
positive transformation.

If you or someone you know is in crisis or experiencing thoughts of suicide,
please reach out to the national suicide hotline in the United States at 1 (800)
273-TALK. This hotline operates 24/7, offering free and confidential support.
Trained counselors are available to lend a listening ear, provide support, and
share valuable resources for individuals and their loved ones

HOW IT WORKS

Freeze-Drying Technology

Traditional food preservation techniques like canning, smoking, salting, and
oven-drying diminish the nutritional content of food and have a shelf life of up
to 5 years. In contrast, freeze-drying extends shelf life up to 25 years,
preserving both flavor and almost all nutritional value.
