Both fans and critics fell in love with the show as evidenced by the high ratings given by both sides. Everyone seems to enjoy following the wacky adventures of the grandfather and grandson duo, but another thing, which captivates one’s attention is the philosophical undertones of each and every episode. This is why we want to explore the philosophy of the show itself. Inspiration for the Show Rick and Morty started off as a parody of the famous movie Back to the Future. It was initially called The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti. This show was supposed to be an Internet gimmick, but it was well-received by the audience and thus Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon decided to transform it into the sophisticated Rick and Morty. The Basics Rick and Morty builds… Continue Reading Science-Fiction BLACK MIRROR March 20, 2021 Black Mirror is an ongoing sci-fi anthology series created by Charlie Brooker in 2011. Each episode is a standalone story introducing us to new characters and new situations. Sometimes, however, earlier episodes are subtly or explicitly referenced in newer ones, which implies they exist within the same universe. The series is set in the near future, although looking at the way the characters dress and act, it appears that the action takes place in present day if not for the futuristic gadgets at the centre of most episodes. This is why we describe Black Mirror as uncanny – it inhabits a vaguely familiar, yet distant universe. Moreover, because each episode is a standalone story, the plot quickly unravels and becomes an intense exploration of a dystopian future, that is, however, only reflecting on our current societal trends. What is the Black Mirror in Black Mirror The intro for Black Mirror… Continue Reading Science-Fiction WELCOME January 5, 2021 Welcome to our new blog! In commemoration of this great sci-fi series, we decided to tell you how the show was originally conceived and how it was received by the studio. Conception Star Trek is the ambitious brain-child of Gene Roddenberry. Roddenberry (19 August 1921-24 October 1991) has had a sweet spot for science-fiction since high school. Before he became a television writer and producer, he was a pilot, as well as a press officer for the LAPD. Talking about diverse interests! Conceived in the 1960’s during the height of the Cold War, Star Trek meant to portray a human future where war and suffering did not exist. A future where all races and ethnicities on Earth were united and lived peacefully together, so much that they could advance technologically and share their peaceful… Continue Reading Science-Fiction RICK & MORTY July 6, 2021 The hit sci-fi cartoon Rick and Morty became a household name soon after its initial release.
