The 7 actions leadership do at P&G to accelerate their operational excellence
journey & results
Marc WinkelmanGlobal Director IWS Manufacturing Excellence
The Procter & Gamble Company

P&G is widely regarded for its operational excellence capability. That
capability has helped the company to transform the employee engagement and
digitalization. Result are year-on-year program of cost saving, inventory
reduction, service improvement, productivity gains, and employee satisfaction.
In this presentation, you will learn about some critical leadership actions
needed to accelerate and maintain the capabilities to achieve this level of
performance.

This presentation covers:

 * Research shows that some 70% of (digital) transformations fail as the
organizational- and people foundations are not ready to accept/implement the
(digital) transformation. However, most transformation projects at P&G do
succeed, which rases just 1 question: ‘What does P&G do differently?’
 * With IWS, Procter & Gamble/’s OPEX program, P&G builds leadership- and
operator capability to drive continuous loss elimination, capability
building, and engagement, all factors that are fundamental to transform an
   organization.
 * The presentation shows a practical framework what leaders are expected to do
   to build the needed capability.
 * The last practical action is how to decide for digital systems and become a
   smart factory.

How a new operational system is triggering the carbon footprint reduction across
the whole value chain and drives sustainable efforts

An operational system is developed to see the actual footprint reduction for
every business unit, production line, equipment as well as for each produced
product. For the project, a bottom-up approach is used firstly to find out the
carbon footprint for each plant and line and a continuous process across the
whole value chain is triggered. Production systems need to be aligned globally
and platforms developed, to see what the footprint of each product is.
Furthermore, digital operations need to make right use of the available data.

This presentation covers:

 * How to achieve footprint reduction through a operational system and which
programs to use for e.g. IoT devices on the line
 * Visibility and transparency of the carbon footprint in formulation and
synthesis and sustainability of the product itself
 * How to involve your people in the process and get talent at company level
with the goal of a sustainable public communication

Despite decades of specialized knowledge and terabytes of process data, why do
so many manufacturers struggle to generate significant financial gains within
“Industry 4.0”? During this session, you’ll learn how leading manufacturers can
capture upside opportunities in existing assets with data analytics, instead of
relying on capital projects. These techniques help to maximize your output,
quality, yield, and profitability of asset operations as well as quality in
batch, continuous and discrete manufacturing processes. We’ll explore how these
new offerings complement existing solutions like digital twins and asset
performance management tools to form a complete technology portfolio for modern
manufacturers, and, most importantly, get results.

This session covers:

 * Why context and capability are required to turn data into results
 * How a new approach to asset analytics reveals unique insights that quantify
the full potential of existing assets
 * Examples of recent results from batch and continuous processes

Internal development, partnering with suppliers or buying commercial
applications – how to source AI solutions?
Yves-Gorat StommelDeputy Head of Function Evonik Digital
Evonik Industries AG

In the last couple of years, many larger companies have built internal Data
Science know how, with a significant fraction of this capability being deployed
towards internally developing AI solutions. However, building, maintaining, and
operationalizing an expanding portfolio of AI solutions across the enterprise
quickly becomes a significant, if not overwhelming effort. In order to prepare
for a future in which AI solutions are paramount, early and transparent
decision-making on how to source AI solutions becomes more important. Evonik has
developed a process that allows well-informed decision-making on how to source
AI solutions, taking into account criteria around internal and external
resources and know how, application maturity, IP, value, cost, and others.

This session covers:

 * What some of the main differences are between AI applications and classic
software that directly impact the “make or buy” decision
 * Why now is the time to implement a process on “make or buy” for AI
   applications
 * What evaluation criteria can be used for decision-making regarding “make or
   buy” for AI applications
 * What competencies are needed to manage a balanced AI application portfolio in

Maritim proArte Hotel Berlin
How can we push the digital maturity level and novel manufacturing technologies
such as Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning in chemical manufacturing?
Oleg PajalicPrincipal Scientist | Vice President Process Innovation
Perstorp Group
 * Implementation of a digital twin will require expertise beyond that of the
process modeling : specialists in on-line analytics and sensor technology,
ICT, programming, optimization, statistics and artificial intelligence need
to work together with the industrial production experts (including modelers
but, operators, management, supply chain that will potentially use the IoT
apps). Adding on the employees will increase fixed costs – How will Chemical
Industry solve (or mitigate) that negative equation?
 * Do we need a comprehensive method describing how to perform reliable
technoeconomic analysis of the profitability of the digital mature plants and
   digital twin technology?
 * Digital Twins: The Next Phase of the AI Revolution? Can we create future
digital twins without AI? Augmented reality and Digital twins – Is that the
   way to proceed?
 * Computer models based on digital twins could be very complex and demanding.
   Who will develop that technology?
 * Big data management and Big data analytics – is the future for the Chemical
Industry to rely on IoT service providers like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, GE,
Siemens and so on? (that would be paradigm shift- almost everything else is
in-house assets). Is it a new business model necessary to implement?
 * Again.. If we can push digital maturity in the chemical industry; why don´t
   we?

Company transformation – Corporate Culture transformation as key success factors
for shaping a new future
Marco SchlimpertVice President Performance, Improvement & Technology
Lenzing Group

We still experience results of our well intended work nobody wants: the
ecological divide, the social divide and the spiritual divide. Those divides
heavily influence our day-to-day working environment. As a result, we still see
the great resignation of co-workers ongoing – up to 60% of our associates intend
to leave the company within the next 12 months. How can we co-create an emerging
future and transform our businesses to create resonance, to achieve
sustainability and a high performance culture? The presentation focuses on the
key success factors for a sustainable transformation and provides a deep dive
into tools to shaping a corporate culture as pre-requisite for any successful
transformation.

This presentation covers:

 * Influence of corporate culture on a successful transformation and which
   interventions can be successfully set
 * Create the “compound effect” to successfully co-create and implement the
   business strategy
 * Which methods are particularly suitable to promote people and performance in

Supply chain attacks - When your own supply chain becomes a digital threat

Today’s supply chains are often characterized by a complex interaction of many
partners. Digitalization with increasingly networked processes, systems and data
between customers and suppliers plays an important role and forms the backbone
of modern supply chains. But it is precisely this networking that opens the door
to new cyber attacks. The use of the supply chain as a means of attack has long
since ceased to be an abstract threat and has become a painful reality. Against
this background, we would like to discuss the following questions and provide
answers:

This presentation covers:

 * What are the current cases?
 * What types of supply chain attacks are there and what makes them so
   dangerous?
 * What can be learned from current cases and what measures are recommended?

Connect siloed data to create a gobal E2E visbility on your logistics and
transportation and efficiently reduce CO2 emissions

Supply chains are complex. The way to reconcile the complexity has been to
divide systems into consumable and manageable silos. For a while, this strategy
worked because each component of the supply chain had its own supply chain that
could strive for its own internal efficiency and productivity.

However, this approach is anything but efficient, as we now have the the
technology to overcome the silos and understand the entire complex systems
holistically.

This presentation covers:

 * capacity: how to indentify current capacities, find new capacities and
   eliminate waste
 * how to understand your costs, minimize them and maximize your value at the
   same time
 * empower your workers! by adapting to worker changes and streamlining
   processes
 * create a scalable technology foundation by an enriched data ecosystem and
   embrace growth!
 * how to become more sustainable through manufacturing technologies (AI, ML,

Global CO2 reduction strategy and strategic transformation of linear routes to a
circular economy within the supply and value chain
Stefan KochHead of Climate Strategy & Strategic Projects
Covestro

The chemical industry is at a pathway. Geopolitical and economic challenges are
ahead and rising energy prices and shortages looming. A global CO2 reduction
strategy can go different directions, but always starts in own productions.
Circularity over the value and supply, instead of linear routes, is the driver
of climate neutrality and implicates an highly transformative effort.

This presentation covers:

 * Sourcing of renewable energies and how raw materials are used in the final
product (end of the life cycle with high CO2 emissions)
 * Process component: Process technologies with the potential of saving CO2 –
what are process steps and technological requirements?

Our customers promise themselves to be able to meet the current challenges in
their supply chains through digitization. Forcasting, planning, customers,
suppliers, inventories, replenishment, etc., everything should be perfectly
plannable, transparent and controllable with the greatest possible speed and
flexibility through digitization. However, the prerequisites for digitization in
companies are extremely varied. Using typical examples from industry, we show
how the path to a stable and high-performing supply chain can succeed and which
methods and digital enablers are really needed at which point in time.

Artificial intelligence as a lever for bottlenecks in the supply chain

In a world currently characterized by uncertainty and risk, local and global
supply chains are under particular strain. This development is manifested in
many different forms and challenges across a wide range of industries.

A stable and predictable supply chain is an essential component of a company’s
success, especially in the production of highly complex products that require a
large number of raw materials, intermediates and special components.

Process Mining in the Supply Chain - Analysis, Insights and Improvements

With the increasing digitization of business processes, the need to measure,
analyze, optimize and control these digital business processes is also growing.
Many SCM processes are interface processes, which must be considered and
controlled end-2-end in order to use the full potential of these processes.

The Process Mining method enables a transparent and objective view of SCM
processes. But what happens to the transparency and how do we use it? The
possibilities range from process observation and key figures to the automation
of process activities.

This presentation covers:

 * In which areas does your company already apply process mining approaches?
 * In which processes in your supply chain do you see the greatest potential for
   optimization?
 * What were your biggest challenges and what benefits were you able to
   generate?
 * What are the stumbling blocks and what are the success factors of process
   mining?

Connecting the Evolution on the Shopfloor with the Evolution of the People
Pasquale Di SarnoPlant Director
Barilla Group

Digitalization is revolutionizing production in many ways by enabling new
possibilities and shaking existing processes in their core.

Hand in hand with the evolution of processes on the shopfloor goes the emergence
of new ways of working. While digitalization makes many processes for workers
safer and easier, it also requires new skills from the people on the shopfloor.

Pasquale Di Sarno, Plant Director at the Barilla Group, shows in his
presentation how the company is tackling the digitalization of their
manufacturing processes while not loosing sight of the most important factor in
manufacturing – the people.

AI - from a feasibility study to a sustainable solution in production
Petra HildebrandtManager Test Systems Technology & Platforms
Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co KG

In recent months, Sennheiser has focused on optimizing its existing AI models
and services. The monitoring of the AI models has been significantly expanded
and a good method has been found to detect whether an AI model is still
performing correctly or whether it needs to be retrained. The re-training is
partly automated, the triggering is still manual. The training will be further
automated, as this is the only way to create a sustainable solution. The
presentation will deal with how a sustainable solution for manufacturing was
developed from a feasibility study and what is important in the process.

 * How to measure AI performance
 * Monitoring of AI implementations
 * Creating a sustainable AI solution in production

From Building to Selling – Implementing AI-based Smart Maintenance Applications
in your processes and products
Walter SchubertSenior Manager Product Management DXQ
Dürr Systems AG

Artificial Intelligence has a lot to offer when it comes to more efficient and
better production processes. In regard to maintaining assets, it provides
manufacturers with the possibility to act preventive instead of reactive and
therefore to prevent unplanned shutdowns as well as to ensure a continuously
high quality of your products. Alexander Meißner, Director Planning, Simulation
and Product Management at the Dürr Systems AG explains in his presentation of
preventive maintenance measures can be successful and profitable. In a first
step he puts the focus on the role of interdisciplinary teams to create a
solution that really fits the needs of the shopfloor. In a second step he then
builds the bridge to selling such smart maintenance as part of a new asset to
clients.

Learn how to

 * Build interdisciplinary teams to create solutions that really fit the
   specific needs on the shopfloor
 * Benefit from Artificial Intelligence in maintaining your asset
 * Sell the solution to a problem that does not yet exist

Reducing Cost and Carbon Footprint with Industrial AI
Dr. Benedikt HofmannCTO Innovation & Technology, CEO Voith Robotics
J. M. Voith SE & Co. KG

Voith developed a proprietary AI Algorithm to reduce costs and carbon footprint
in industrial processes:

 * Predict quality parameters and optimize production setup / cost and resources
 * Identify maintenance needs early on
 * Predict and protect production interruptions and break events

The AI builds an automated digital twin of the entire production/system
including the dependencies (based on an AI-generated stochastic differential
equation system). This allows predictions and definition of measures.

Process Optimization with Intelligent Automation, RPA and Co-Bots in the Welding
Industry
Boyan IvanovTechnichal Head of sales
EWM AG

For about two years the use of Co-Bots is booming in the welding industry.
Especially for smaller and medium-sized enterprises the technology has a lot to
offer. Not only is their acquisition cheaper than big industrial robots,
additionally they are easier to program and use. Therefore, it is also
profitable to use them in the welding of smaller units as well.

Boyan Ivanov shares in his presentation, how the EWM AG is deploying these
technologies in their daily businesses and the experiences they have made so
far.

 * The boom of Co-Bots in the welding industry – What are the lessons learned so
   far?
 * Co-Bots versus Industrial Robots – Where are the advantages of Co-Bots
especially for smaller and medium-sized enterprises?
 * Easy to program and easy to run – How can the employees be trained for the
   use of Co-Bots

WHAT IS A WORLD CAFÉ?

World Café session are designed to help you discuss with colleagues and peers
similar issues and challenges that everyone is facing in the industry.

Not only will the conversation be moderated by an expert speaker, the aim of the
session is to find real solutions to real world problems with the 4 rounds of
this session. Share you knowledge during the World Café session and deepen your
networking experience!

HOW IS IT ORGANISED?

Based on the theory of the power of collective knowledge, participants are
brought together to share challenges and jointly gain new perspectives and
develop solutions. A medium sized group of participants are allocated to the
offered 4 World Café session tables. The host (moderator, possibly with
co-moderator) of each round table welcomes the guests and briefly introduces
controversies, challenging or project related questions.

After 45 minutes (round 1&2)/30 minutes (round 3&4), participants move to the
next table based on the assigned order on their name badge to enter into a new
discussion. At the beginning of each new World Café round, the moderator gives a
short conclusion of previously discussed aspects and questions emerged. This
offers the opportunity to build up on the discussion continuously. Be part of
several thematic conversation rounds with changing topics and team
constellations – Join our unique World Cafe Sessions!

Requirement for modern corporate governance in securing the future viability
Harald KirschHead of Automation and Industrial IT
ALD Vacuum Technologies GmbH

With regard to their future viability, companies should aim to use innovative
technologies holistically, for example, to ensure the principles of sustainable
production or circular economy. In view of profound technical, economic and
social changes, the manufacturing industry must question the organizational
structure, project characteristics as well as its current portfolio of products,
services and adapt its business models. To do this, it should continue and
accelerate the transformation process that may already have begun. Topics are
the expansion of the technological basis, the expansion of competence and
awareness in dealing with sustainable or circular business. It is therefore no
longer a question of if – it is more a question of how- by identifying the right
approach, taking into account the maturity of my organizational structures.

In the age of advancing digitization and hyper-automation, many transformation
projects still suffer from the fact that, as an example, the physical
integration of production modules takes place much faster than the “logical”
automation technology adaptation or complete integration into continuously
networked, sometimes spatially distributed constructs of production capacities
and the associated planning and control systems. Efforts in which the production
resources work autonomously, knowledge-based, “intelligently” and can control or
configure themselves situationally and exchange information with each other are
made more difficult.

In the planned World Café we want to discuss lessons learned in the circle of
involved and curious discussion partners and provide food for thought in the
safer handling of the matter.

 * How to identify the maturity of the socio-technological environment?
 * How to manage the risk of implementing future oriented organization /
   technological fundament
 * What are the requirement for modern corporate governance
 * Which strategy is the right one: Following an incremental approach or rather
   a radical one?
 * Speed and structure. What is the level of maturity?
 * Which stumbling blocks have you already encountered?

Building new networks for data exchange - New ecosystems and value chains in the
automotive industry and manufacturing sectors
Johannes DiemerR&D Coordinator
ARENA2036

The current transformation of the manufacturing and automotive industries is
additionally massively influenced by geopolitical disputes, pandemics and
climate change. Material flows must therefore be traceable throughout the entire
value chain. This is a challenge that no company can solve on its own today. To
do so, it is necessary to enable the digital flow of information across entire
supply chains. But many suppliers in the manufacturing and automotive industries
are extremely uncertain about the added value of sharing their data. This is
where open data ecosystems come in. A trusted architecture for these ecosystems
is provided by Gaia-X, the project that introduced the idea of data sovereignty,
security and interoperability for decentralized systems. The presentation will
explain the concept of the architecture and the ecosystems of Catena-X the
network for date exchange.
