WORDS FROM THE PRINCIPAL OF NTC



REV DEIRDRE BROWER LATZ



At NTC we’re passionate about helping the Bible and theology be alive and
accessible to people from all walks of life and all backgrounds. We believe that
everyone can thrive in learning and that in a supportive and hospitable
environment people can do more than they’d ever imagined. Our whole team longs
to see people flourish. We have a diverse community – in nationality,
denomination, backgrounds, beliefs and practices, and so we’re not a place of
uniformity, instead, studying here stretches, challenges and helps people deepen
their understanding. We seek to display the Kingdom of God breaking in- on earth
as it is in heaven.

Our oldest motto – by the visionaries who started the College – was ‘Scholarship
on Fire!’ The combination of Spirit-led passion for plunging into study of the
Word and the world, and the importance of deep, purposeful learning that hones
and shapes our lives to serve God with integrity wherever we are called still
drives us. We are a college that seeks to practise what we preach – we try to
cultivate an atmosphere of generosity, curiosity, challenging people to deepen
their faith and engage in lives of holy-living. Becoming closer to God shapes
our community life – we regularly pray and worship alongside each other, gather
as a community in our ‘coffee’ time (other drinks are available), and our
lecturers have open doors – inviting students to come and question, talk, laugh,
cry, and share life’s blessings and trials.

So, friends, feel free to come… experience us, join us, participate alongside
us, engage with our lecturers, plunge into scholarship on fire, join the journey
towards Christ-likeness in a community of faithful learning – we are disciples
together.
