ABOUT



I have always had a passion for writing and loved making up stories to tell to
my three children when they were young. Unfortunately a busy lifestyle, working
in education, curtailed my writing ambitions.

My love of writing was reignited after retirement, when the next generation of
children appeared. I started inventing stories for my grandchildren, making up
funny adventures to make them laugh and was encouraged by their enthusiastic
response.

I believe that childhood is such a short, precious time in everyone’s lives.
Every child should be encouraged to explore its imagination to the wildest
possible extreme, before the reality and responsibility of adulthood encroach.
What better way than through fantasy fiction.

Three children travel on an unexpected holiday to visit their family at
Somewhere, a village in Yorkshire. When they arrive, life there is not what it
seems!



They are fascinated by the locals, who seem to live in the past and keep strange
rules and customs. In this wonderful fantasy world, where folk own exotic pets,
our trio find themselves drawn into thrilling adventures, that are beyond their
wildest imaginings.

What is it that makes Somewhere such an exciting and enchanting place to live?
Immerse yourself in the hilarious and gripping exploits of our three heroes and
feel their sadness and joy when their holiday finally comes to an end.

Somewhere In Yorkshire: An enjoyable easy read.
This book is well written and brings back many memories. It's like Disney World,
"not just for children".

Somewhere In Yorkshire: An Excellent Read
This is a children's book ..... for children of all ages! ... I thoroughly
enjoyed the book (and I'm 71 next). Perhaps one of the reasons I enjoyed it was
because I think I've been to this village; at least I've definitely sat in that
classroom - where I had the greatest honour of my life, when they made me ink
monitor. The book will suit all ages; it's full of warmth, humour and .. yes ..
nostalgia. I have to admit, I don't remember any prancing pachyderms ...
however, the memory isn't quite what it was .... then again ... maybe ... just
maybe ....!! A good read, I would thoroughly recommend this book.

Somewhere In Yorkshire: This book is a brilliant read, fun and exciting and
definitely not to be missed.
I bought this new book for my grandchildren, aged 10. I started to skim through
a few pages to preview my gift and was drawn into a unique story I could not put
down! The wrapping and ribbon were abandoned as I delighted in the read. I felt
nostalgia and warmth and, excitement and amusement as I followed the cousins
from their meeting, through to their goodbyes, totally absorbing. A fantastic
book for all of us.

Somewhere In Yorkshire: Brilliant Read
I bought this book for my grandchildren age 7 9 & 12. They all loved the story.
It has everything in it that appeals to those age groups. It really appeals to
their imagination! Excellent story!

Somewhere In Yorkshire: Wonderful, different and very funny
This book is fantastic. I bought it for my 7 and 9 year old recently and it’s
already a favourite. They are totally absorbed my it’s humour. As parents it’s a
great story as we have also enjoy reading it to/with the kids again and again.

As a proud yorkshire lass this book was recommended to me during yorkshire week
as a fun, imaginative read.Bought a copy for my niece who is an avid reader. She
absolutely loved it and has already read it through a 2nd time!

Fantastic book! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this with my son (age 9), very funny
