Our joint statement announcing the cessation of hostilities between Lebanon and
Israel.
I applaud the courageous decision by the leaders of Lebanon and Israel to end
the violence. It reminds us that peace is possible. And so long as that is the
case, I will not for a single moment stop working to achieve it.
Today I spoke with President Macron of France on a number of global and
bilateral matters — ranging from developments in Ukraine to our work to secure a
ceasefire deal in Lebanon that will allow residents to return home.

This year, President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act started capping
prescription drug costs for seniors at about $3,500 a year.In the first six
months of 2024 alone, that cap has saved people on Medicare nearly $1
billion.That’s real money back in people’s pockets.

I APPLAUD THE COURAGEOUS DECISION BY THE LEADERS OF LEBANON AND ISRAEL TO END
THE VIOLENCE. IT REMINDS US THAT PEACE IS POSSIBLE. AND SO LONG AS THAT IS THE
CASE, I WILL NOT FOR A SINGLE MOMENT STOP WORKING TO ACHIEVE IT.


TODAY I SPOKE WITH PRESIDENT MACRON OF FRANCE ON A NUMBER OF GLOBAL AND
BILATERAL MATTERS — RANGING FROM DEVELOPMENTS IN UKRAINE TO OUR WORK TO SECURE A
CEASEFIRE DEAL IN LEBANON THAT WILL ALLOW RESIDENTS TO RETURN HOME.
