One of the most iconic gardens in Darjeeling, established in 1885, the Castleton
tea estate is where the Muscatels were first made. It was our chief master
taster Mr. Arun Gomden who made the first batch of these elusive teas. The
Muscatels from Castleton are sought after by tea aficionados around the world.
Situated at 6000 ft. and plucked from a designated section of the estate, this
tea is made only during summer flush. Located just an hour and a half away from
our facility, we have procured this rare Muscatel fresh. As you sip this
medium-bodied tea, delectable notes of peaches and prunes arrive. Notes of cedar
and hazelnuts circle toward the middle with accents of Muscat grapes in the end.
An unforgettable experience of Indian Second Harvest 2021, a true connoisseur's
delight!

TASTE

A medium-bodied, pleasantly supple cup which opens on a delicious register of
peach and prunes. These flavors become prominent as you make your way through
the cup interrupted by exquisite notes of cedar and hazelnuts around the edges;
rendering a vivacious intensity to the cup. Muted undertones of Muscat grapes
come through towards the finish which lingers on, making for a sublime
experience of Summer Muscatels from this iconic plantation.

Good nose and delicious flavour. The tin caddy it came in is beautiful as well
as functional - it preserved the tea absolutely perfectly. And, I used to be a
Tea Taster! To top it all, we received it really fast. Teabox has definitely got
a customer for life, in me!

This is as find a Castleton Muscatel as I've ever tasted (over several decades
of drinking second-flush Darjeelings). Redolent with peach and muscat aroma,
quite full-bodied for a Darjeeling and brimming with new crop vitality thanks to
Teabox's impeccable sourcing and packaging. Worth every penny.
