ABOUT

Hello!

I'm a guy in his 30s living in the Pacific Northwest that sometimes pretends to
be an anthropomorphic clouded leopard.

I have previously lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up in the
southeast.


HOBBIES

OUTDOORS

I love outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, skiing (resort and
backcountry), mountain biking, and motorcycling (dual-sport and adventure).

GAMES

I've always enjoyed computer games, starting with games like Chip's Challenge,
Duke Nukem, Jill of the Jungle, and Descent on MS-DOS and The Legend of Zelda:
Ocarina of Time on Nintendo 64.

I got into multiplayer games with friends through games like the Age of Empires
series, Mario Party, and Super Spash Bros.

The first multiplayer online games I played were Tribes 2 and RuneScape. These
were followed by Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead. I
ended up meeting a lot of friends through online games around this time.

Today, I primarily play Counter-Strike 2 and single player games as they
interest me. The latest have been Red Dead Redemption 2 and Alan Wake 2.

Other notable games include the Homeworld series, Pharaoh, Ico, Unreal
Tournament 2003, and Garry's Mod.

TINKERING

Otherwise, you may find me tinkering with software, electronics, mechanics, or
woodworking. I love building, repairing, and automating things.


PROGRAMMING

Programming interested me from an early age. I taught myself HTML, CSS, and
JavaScipt in the early 2000s using books and online resources. I picked up PHP
and SQL when I took an interest in web scraping.

I'm now familiar with a wide range of languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript,
PHP, SQL, Fortran, MATLAB, Python, C, and C++. Professionally, I primarily use C
and Python. I prefer *nix systems.


PROFESSION & EDUCATION

I currently work as an embedded software engineer on embedded systems for xR.

Previously, I worked in a similar role in the industrial automation industry
after earning a degree in mechanical engineering that included some
interdisciplinary study of electrical engineering.
