WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry is a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory and
illustrated by symbols. Freemasonry expresses profound ideas and gives precise
standards by which masons govern their actions.

MASONIC BELIEF

We believe in some pretty old fashioned things. We believe in God. We believe in
the Brotherhood of Man. We believe in service to those who are less fortunate.
We believe in helping young people get a head start in life. And most important,
we believe in freedom.

OUR MISSION

To make good men better, to teach and perpetuate a way of life that promotes the
Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God and to assist Lodges to grow and
prosper. Each mason has a responsibility to help make the world a better place.

MAKING GOOD MEN BETTER

THE MASONIC EXPERIENCE ENCOURAGES MEMBERS TO BECOME BETTER MEN, BETTER HUSBANDS,
BETTER FATHERS, AND BETTER CITIZENS. THE FRATERNAL BONDS FORMED IN THE LODGE
HELP BUILD LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS AMONG MEN WITH SIMILAR GOALS AND VALUES.

HISTORY OFOUR BELOVED LODGE:

Some may consider us a secret society. Yet we don’t hide our purpose, our
history, or our membership. Our constitution and regulations are open for all to
see. Henry Knox Field No. 349 was chartered on February 12, 1925 and John Blair
Lodge No. 187 was chartered on July 31, 1970. In the spirit of freemasonry and
preserving both legacies, the lodges consolidated on January 1, 2018. The lodge
is now headquartered at the Scottish Rite Temple, located on 1430 West Braddock
Road, Alexandria, Virginia.

WHY JOINFREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternal organization. It is open
to men of 18 years old or older of any color, any religion, nationality or
social standing, the only requirement is a belief in a Supreme Being. Its body
of knowledge and system of ethics is based on the belief that each man has a
responsibility to improve himself while being devoted to his family, faith,
country, and Fraternity.

WHAT ISA MASONIC LODGE?

The word “Lodge” means both a group of Masons meeting together as well as the
room or building in which they meet. Masonic buildings are sometimes called
“temples” because the original meaning of the term was a “place of knowledge”
and Masonry encourages the advancement of knowledge. Masonic Lodges usually meet
once or twice a month to conduct regular business, vote upon petitions for
membership, and bring new Masons into the Fraternity through three ceremonies
called degrees.

About Our Lodge

2B1ASK

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To become a member of this ancient and honorable Fraternity, a man must apply of
his own free will and accord and with an open heart (2B1ASK).
Invitations are not issued to prospective members, nor are members solicited. If
a person is interested in joining, he should ask a Masonic friend for more
information.
Applicants must be men of good character who believe in a Supreme Being. To
become a Mason one must petition a particular Lodge.

Past Masters are Master Masons who have fulfilled a term as Worshipful Master of

knowledge provides continuity within the craft. Without them, Masonry would not
be same.
