MALAYSIA SMART CITIES ALLIANCE ASSOCIATION (MSCA) IS A PLATFORM ESTABLISHED AND
LAUNCHED DURING WORLD URBAN FORUM 9 ON 13 FEB 2018 AND REGISTERED UNDER REGISTRY
OF SOCIETIES (ROS) MALAYSIA ON 9TH JUNE 2021 FOR THE COUNCIL MEMBERS TO
DELIBERATE ON SMART CITY’S ISSUES AND CHALLENGES AND CREATES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR
NETWORKING AMONG THE STAKEHOLDERS.




ASEAN SMART CITIES NETWORK SMART CITY ACTION PLANS

IN 2018, 26 PILOT CITIES WERE CHOSEN TO BE THE PIONEERS OF ASEAN SMART CITIES
NETWORK (ASCN) TO WORK TOWARDS THE COMMON GOAL OF SMART AND SUSTAINABLE URBAN

ABOUT MSCA

Malaysia Smart Cities Alliance Association (MSCA) is a platform established and
launched during World Urban Forum 9 on 13 Feb 2018 and registered under Registry
of Societies (ROS) Malaysia on 9th june 2021 for the council members to
deliberate on Smart City’s issues and challenges and creates an opportunity for
networking among the stakeholders. The formation of MSCA consist of cross sector
participations from academician, governments and industry players. Thus, forming
a new structure comprising founding, core, vertical, innovator, market & funding
governed by the strategic objectives, specific roles and responsibilities for
the members.

Currently in Malaysia, number of ‘smart’ initiatives being executed by few
parties across the major cities in Malaysia including Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru,
Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Melaka & Ipoh. The MSCA will be synchronizing the
initiatives implemented at the targeted cities in Malaysia towards the specific
targets of Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Results-focus and Time-bound
(SMART).

Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) will be acting
as a Secretariat for MSCA in facilitating the overall rollout of smart cities
focusing on the three main pillars covering economic, environmental and social
development. The MSCA will be guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
as well as providing alignment and linkages with the 11th Malaysian Development
Plan and local city master plan. It is targeted with the innovation via
collaboration of this MSCA, it will be further benefitting in improving the
sustainability of Malaysian communities.
