SPIDER-MAN NOIR FINDS A NEW SERIES REGULAR AHEAD OF PRODUCTION

Spider-Man Noir makes headlines yet again for casting a new series regular;
signaling production could begin soon

To say it's a great time to be a Spider-Man fan would be an understatement.
Multiple projects featuring the wall-crawler will be coming our way in the next
few years. From the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 4 all the way to DLC for
Marvel's Spider-Man 2; there is something for everyone's liking. However, fans
are eagerly awaiting for the friendly neighborhood hero to venture into the
world of live-action series for the first time since 1978. Fortunately, that
will finally happen with the release of Spider-Man Noir.

The MGM+ and Prime Video series will follow Peter Parker (portrayed by Nicholas
Cage) as he works as a private investigator during the 1930s. The American actor
will portray the role of Spider-Man Noir for the second time after voicing the
character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse.
Fortunately, it seems the series could start production soon, as evidenced by
many recent casting news. Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, and - more recently -
Brendan Gleeson have all joined the series, with the latter being rumored to
play the main antagonist. Now, the casting list just got a little bit bigger.

JACK HUSTON JOINS SPIDER-MAN NOIR

Jack Huston was recently cast as a series regular for Spider-Man Noir.
Unfortunately, details about his role remain under wraps. However, he's rumored
to be playing a bodyguard. The Outlander star has been the latest of many
additions to the cast of the MGM+ and Amazon series, which could indicate
production could be starting soon (even if no release date has been set in stone
yet).



Spider-Man Noir will be eight episodes long and will showcase a version of Peter
Parker that's a little bit darker than what audiences are used to. As Nicholas
Cage puts it: "It’s a grittier, more visceral kind of heroism". After all, the
comic book series it's inspired by is a grim tale that focuses on the criminal
underworld and mob bosses ruling over New York City. Think of it more akin to
Netflix Daredevil in terms of tone and style.

While the Spider-Verse movie franchise and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
featured Noir in an important and even protagonistic role - this ruthless
version of the wall-crawler has yet to be as popular and cherished by fans as
other variants such as Spider-Man 2099. Perhaps the upcoming live-action series
will position him as a widely beloved hero, which could open a door for endless
possibilities. After all, Nicholas Cage himself has expressed interest in his
upcoming version of Peter Parker to team up with other heroes from the
Spider-Verse.
