AIRTASKER’S TOP TASKERS IN AUSTRALIA FOR 2023

By Airtasker

Published: February 19th, 2024

Airtasker unveils changing labour force trends and the professionals leading the
charge.

From sourcing rare desserts to waiting in line at rental inspections – local
services marketplace, Airtasker, has unveiled the skilled professionals behind
the emerging labour force trends. Across the country, Airtasker has crowned
nine Top Taskers out of 60,000 active users based on ratings and reviews from
their completed tasks on the platform.

The awards celebrate the growing and diverse Airtasker community, which welcomed
nearly 700k new users in 2023, as more and more Aussies leveraged earning
opportunities across the flex economy. Of those users are some inspiring
stories, including handyperson David Hamono, who overcame life-threatening
challenges to become Australia’s Top Tasker, earning more than $5,000 monthly.
Mitchell Pedavoli from NSW excelled in preventing car scams with 650+ five-star
reviews. Meanwhile, Jessica Stankoski from VIC is one half of a husband and wife
Airtasker power couple, and is transforming lives with her fitness expertise.

AUSTRALIA’S TOP TASKERS OF THE YEAR 2023

 * Australia’s Top Tasker: David Hamono, Scoresby, Victoria: Handyperson.
 * NSW Top Tasker: Mitchell Pedavoli, Ryde: Pre-purchase used car inspections.
 * VIC Top Tasker: Jessica Stankoski, Taylors Lakes: Nutritionist and personal
   trainer.
 * QLD Top Tasker: Harry Evans, Cairns: Tradesperson.
 * SA Top Tasker: Shini Mendis, Adelaide: Assembling flatpacks and toys.
 * ACT Top Tasker: Brittany Davidson, Kanbah: Writes eulogies and proofreading.
 * WA Top Tasker: Alison Hedley, Perth: Photo organiser.
 * NT Top Tasker: Lincoln Marrable, Darwin: Handyperson.
 * TAS Top Tasker: Kim Wilson, Hobart: Seamstress.

Airtasker Founder and CEO Tim Fung said, “The labour force has become more
fragmented and flexible than ever before, enabling people to use their passion
and skills to earn a steady income that wasn’t thought possible in the past.

“Our Taskers are going above and beyond helping find solutions for their
customers, whether it be to spruce up their home, mind their pet, teach them to
surf, deliver a package or help them secure Taylor Swift tickets, so we wanted
to recognise these Taskers who help Aussies get more done every day.

“People are making money in obscure ways as we witnessed during the rental
crisis as people paid others to carry out rental inspections on their behalf to
increase their chances of securing a property to lease.

Australia’s Top Tasker of the Year, 2023: David Hamono

A motorcycle accident nearly claimed David Hamono’s life, leading him to
Airtasker to get back into the workforce. His injuries meant he had to give up
his previous full-time role that required heavy lifting. He now enjoys the
variety of tasks so much he won’t work anywhere else. The 60-year-old likes the
flexibility of being able to work when and where he wants, earning over $5,000
each month, which is enough for him to support his family.

NSW Top Tasker of the Year: Mitchell Pedavoli

A licensed mechanic for 15 years, Mitchell Pedavoli is earning $5,000 a month on
Airtasker carrying out pre-purchase car inspections, which he says are
increasingly necessary with scams and false odometer readings – he sees at least
two a week of the latter. Mitchell has over 650 five-star reviews, and he saves
people money by preventing them from buying a dud car. Airtasker helped him find
his niche; now, he has made a business out of it.

VIC Top Tasker of the Year: Jessica Stankoski

Mum of two, Jessica Stankoski, has nearly two decades of experience as a
personal trainer and qualified nutritionist and is helping people through
Airtasker to become the healthiest version of themselves. A 40-kilo weight loss
in seven months was her biggest achievement with a female client, helping them
build good lifestyle habits to keep the weight off. Jessica earns around $1,000
a week through Airtasker and is still training her first two clients she met
through the marketplace. Her husband got her into Airtasker after he made a
steady income through the platform, so Airtakser is really helping their family
cope with the cost of living while having the flexibility to be with their
children.

QLD Top Tasker of the Year: Harry Evans

Tradie Harry Evans is earning as much as $8,000 a month on Airtasker in addition
to his full-time job after the 25-year-old started picking up odd jobs but
really hit his stride in 2021 when he realised there was a gap in the market
with an increasing number of families who had jobs half completed – either DIY
jobs gone wrong or tradies unable to complete the work. His most memorable task
was helping people get back on their feet after the Lismore Floods in 2022,
while he was living in Woodburn.

WA Top Tasker of the Year: Alison Hedley

On average, we take six photos a day on our phone and have over 3,000 images
saved on it, but to preserve those memories, Australians are getting help from
people like Alison Hedley, who loved managing pictures as a hobby but is now
earning an income from it. The mum of one works part-time in mining and
supplements her income on Airtasker, earning an extra $500 a month on the local
marketplace to have a little extra spending money.

SA Top Tasker of the Year: Shini Mendis

A young woman on the brink of homelessness credits a side hustle for putting a
roof over her head. Shini Mendis started working on Airtasker in 2019, doing
delivery tasks and flatpack assemblies, having immigrated to Australia from Sri
Lanka. After finishing her studies and no job in sight, Shini turned to
Airtasker for an income to keep a roof over her head and now earns $2,000 a
month in addition to her full-time job as a business support consultant.

ACT Top Tasker of the Year: Brittany Davidson

The single mum of one has found a surprising way to provide for her son by
writing eulogies and proofreading important documents. The 27-year-old initially
took on rental property inspection tasks for people who couldn’t make it, then
branched out into mystery shopping and is now writing eulogies. The flexibility
on Airtasker enables her to care for her grandmother, who has a disability, and
she has formed lifelong friendships with a few people who engaged her services
on Airtasker, so she no longer feels isolated as a single mum and a carer.

NT Top Tasker of the Year: Lincoln Marrable

A jack of all trades and a father of two, Lincoln Marrable can be your marriage
celebrant, fix your doors or weed your garden. This comes on top of his
full-time role as a maintenance officer for residential independent care. He
joined Airtasker in 2021, and it’s become a big part of his life, especially
helping with the rising cost of living.

TAS Top Tasker of the Year: Kim Wilson

Kim is a full-time safety administrator, but her passion for sewing has enabled
her to earn extra money through Airtasker, helping people with clothes
alterations, curtain making and cushions. The interest rate rises has seen Kim’s
mortgage increase by $500 a month, but she’s not worried because her side hustle
is helping to cover it. Nearing 60, Kim says you’re never too old to try
something new and use your passion to make some extra money. She started using
Airtasker in her mid-50s and said it’s so easy to navigate and keeps her life
interesting with the new connections she has made. She earns around $300 a month
on the local marketplace.

Airtasker crunched the numbers over the past 12 months to identify the
top-performing Taskers. Key metrics include Tasker’s average rating, reviews and
completion rate. Award recipients scored high across all metrics and
consistently delivered value to their community.

All winners will be awarded with a verified Top Tasker badge to be displayed on
their Airtasker profile, with their outstanding contributions easily
identifiable by customers.
