I'm Mohammad Hawari, a thoracic surgeon from Nottingham. I'm raising money for Shady Nagy Gaber. Shady is an aspiring pediatric cardiac surgeon. *I met Shady when he was preparing for his FRCS fellowship exam in Cardiothoracic Surgery*. He worked at Birmingham Children's Hospital and the congenital heart unit in Leeds. He then spent around a year at our thoracic unit in Nottingham to learn more about thoracic surgery so he could help as many children as possible with lung and thoracic conditions. Shady continued his training at _*Great Ormond Street*#red_ in _*London*#blue_. https://www.cirugiacorazon.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Equipo_Luis-Ricci_137_500x375.jpg I was very sad to learn that Shady was admitted to the hospital last summer with an acute intestinal infarction (dead intestine) due to a blood clotting disorder. He also developed a liver injury from the same condition. Shady was critical and I am so glad he survived the operation. He lost his small intestine and now has a few openings in his abdomen called a stoma, into the stomach and large intestine. Shady can't eat or drink now. He lives on something called TPN, total parenteral nutrition, a special feeding fluid, given through his blood vessels. He still has a drain on his liver. Shady lives in a rented studio apartment in London, where he is under the care of the medical team at the Royal Free Hospital. He is visited daily by a nurse who connects his shots. *Shady* is a brilliant person, always smiling and caring about others. His dream has always been to be a pediatric cardiac surgeon to help and operate on children with heart disease around the world, wherever his skills are needed. His sleep has been abruptly interrupted by this illness. *Help me* by supporting him in this difficult time and show him that there are people who care🙏🏻🙏🏻.
