has now been installed

The journey began when the nacelle left the factory and the tower was installed
on site, ready to receive the components. Activity at the Danish test center at
Osterild does not stop, and the installation of Siemens Gamesa’s largest
offshore wind turbine has now surpassed a key milestone: the nacelle has been

Pioneering technology

RecyclableBlade

Siemens Gamesa is leading the way for a sustainable future with the
RecyclableBlade, the first product to offer a comprehensive recyclable solution
that is ready for commercial use both offshore and onshore.

The wind industry is still relatively young and is aware of the responsibility
it holds of finding a sustainable way to deal with wind turbine components at
the end of their life cycle. Increasing the recyclability of the wind components
is high on our agenda, and we are committed to producing 100% recyclable
turbines by 2040.

Harnessing the wind to power South Africa’s socio-economic development
South Africa is undergoing an energy crisis, with the country struggling to
generate enough electricity to meet demand. This has manifested in successive
rounds of loadshedding. The key is to ensure a just energy transition, and to
empower the socio-economic growth of the country. This strategic investment will
be discussed at the upcoming 11th Annual Windaba Conference and Exhibition
hosted by the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA), supported by the
Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). It takes place at the International
Convention Centre in Cape Town from 12-13 October 2022.

Expert Series: The Circular Economy - Dr Nancy Bocken, Professor in Sustainable
Business at Maastricht University

Embracing the circular economy is a vital step to meeting climate commitments
and safeguarding the future of our planet for generations to come. Think about
the last time you threw something away – did you consider where that product
ended up?

Collectively, we must shift our perspectives from a culture that treats
everything as disposable and instead, adopt a circular view and redesign
products and processes in such a way that goods can be used for longer, or
recycled more economically to reduce costs and waste.
