AND REGISTERED TRADES STUDENTS

Rupertsland Institute is a Métis organization with a plan, approved by the
Government of Canada, which provides a framework for the delivery of programs,
services and other activities to increase labour market participation of
self-identified Métis peoples residing in Alberta. The plan includes funding for
post-secondary students in a diploma or degree program and registered trade
students during the instructional phase of their program.

If you are a qualified candidate for funding, this Online Application System
will guide you through the necessary steps to successfully submit your
application.

In order to qualify for RLI programs and services, applicants must meet the
following qualification criteria:

 * Be a Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) citizen with a valid MNA citizenship card.
   Applicants must show proof of Métis citizenship by submitting one of the
   following documents:
    * A current Métis Nation of Alberta citizenship card; or,
    * A current Métis Nation of Alberta citizenship card from a parent
      (supported by the applicant’s long-form birth certificate) or a card from
      a grandparent (supported by applicant’s and parent’s long-form birth
      certificate), and proof of Alberta residency; or,
    * A current citizenship card from any of the governing members of the Métis
      National Council (Métis Nation British Columbia, Métis Nation
      Saskatchewan, Métis Nation Ontario), or the Manitoba Métis Federation, and
      proof of Alberta residency.

 * Be ready, willing, and able to complete the training requested and any
   intervening requirements for success identified by Rupertsland Institute;
 * Show that training or retraining will lead to employment that provides an
   income on par with non-Indigenous workers and is in an industry with an
   average or above-average industry demand.
