OUR ISSUES

We advocate for liberty across all nationalities, ethnicities, and backgrounds,
embracing diverse perspectives and encouraging open debate on the different
philosophies that underlie liberty.

Students For Liberty believes in the power of free markets and capitalism to
lift people out of poverty, drive innovation, and efficiently allocate

Every individual has the right to express themselves freely. Freedom of
expression includes the right to challenge ideas, publish ideas, protest,
practice religion. It also means we have a right to associate with others in
whatever manner is mutually consensual.

Students For Liberty advocates for freedom of movement for everyone, emphasizing
that borders should limit governments, not people.

Students For Liberty is committed to promoting criminal justice reform by
abolishing victimless crimes, ending prohibition and qualified immunity, and
dismantling the racial inequalities deeply ingrained in the system.

Students For Liberty advocates for the principles of peace, individual liberty,
and self-defense, emphasizing that coercion is never acceptable.

Students For Liberty advocates for the protection of individual privacy for all
people, asserting that governments should not engage in surveillance of their
citizens.

Students For Liberty is dedicated to raising awareness of the true cause of
inflation: money printing.

FILM FESTIVAL IN NEW YORK

 * SFL Author
 * | Feb 9, 2024

In a remarkable achievement last year, Liberty Sparks, a non-political think
tank dedicated to advancing understanding of economic, social, and political
liberty, gained significant recognition. Evans Exaud, the Executive Director at
Liberty Sparks and an alumnus of Students For Liberty, led the organization’s
efforts, resulting in being shortlisted among the top three think tanks globally
for the prestigious Smart Bet Program in New York, courtesy of the Atlas
Network.

The pinnacle of their success came with the Best Video of the Year award at the
Lights, Camera, Liberty Film Festival. Evans Exaud, representing Liberty Sparks,
presented a video that won this prestigious accolade.

The award-winning video, titled “The Winners,” tells the inspiring story of
nearly two dozen women entrepreneurs determined to lift their families out of
poverty. The documentary illuminates their resilient journey through Tanzania’s
complex, expensive, and restrictive licensing system as they strive to establish
successful businesses. The narrative highlights the policy reforms advocated by
Liberty Sparks to the Tanzanian government.

The Lights, Camera, Liberty Film Festival provides a platform for showcasing the
intersection of film and liberty, and Liberty Sparks emerged victorious in this
esteemed arena. The video not only captivated the audience with its visual
storytelling but also conveyed a powerful message about the significance of
cross-border collaboration for economic advancement.

Evans Exaud, as a leader and advocate, exemplifies the impactful contributions
individuals can make in promoting economic, social, and political liberty. The
recognition received by Liberty Sparks at the film festival underscores the
transformative power of ideas in driving positive societal change.

Students For Liberty takes immense pride in witnessing its members and alumni
excel and make significant strides in their respective fields. The success of
Liberty Sparks serves as an inspiration for individuals and organizations
dedicated to promoting liberty and fostering meaningful change. The Best Video
award not only acknowledges past achievements but also serves as a catalyst for
continued dedication to the values of liberty, individual empowerment, and
economic progress.

During his time with Students For Liberty, Evans served as the National
Coordinator for African Students for Liberty in Tanzania.

LANRE-PETER ELUFISAN WON THE ATLAS NETWORK AFRICA THINK TANK SHARK TANK
COMPETITION

 * SFL Author
 * | Feb 9, 2024

In a resounding victory, Lanre-Peter Elufisan, an alumnus of Students For
Liberty from Nigeria, emerged as the champion of the 2023 Africa Think Tank
Shark Tank Competition hosted by the Atlas Network. Elufisan’s winning pitch
unveiled a strategic plan designed to safeguard Nigerians’ private property
rights, offering a solution to navigate bureaucratic hurdles and obtain
certificates of occupancy for their homes.

Elufisan, known for his commitment to advancing liberty and economic
empowerment, stood out among the contestants with a groundbreaking initiative
focused on addressing a pressing issue in Nigeria: the protection of private
property rights. His pitch demonstrated a clear understanding of the challenges
faced by Nigerian citizens in securing documentation for their properties and
outlined practical steps to overcome these obstacles.

As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Ominira Initiative for Economic
Advancement, a non-profit think tank based in Nigeria, Elufisan has dedicated
himself to researching and advancing solutions to Africa’s socio-economic
challenges. His winning proposal aligns with the mission of the Ominira
Initiative, reflecting a deep commitment to fostering economic growth and
empowering individuals in the region.

The Africa Think Tank Shark Tank Competition, hosted by the Atlas Network,
provides a platform for innovative thinkers to present solutions to some of the
continent’s most pressing challenges. Elufisan’s success in this prestigious
competition not only recognizes his individual achievements but also underscores
the potential impact of his proposed solution on the broader community.

The Ominira Initiative for Economic Advancement, under Elufisan’s leadership,
exemplifies the spirit of proactive research and solution-driven thinking. His
success in the competition not only brings recognition to his efforts but also
sheds light on the critical role that think tanks play in shaping the
socio-economic landscape of Africa.

As we celebrate Lanre-Peter Elufisan’s victory, it’s a testament to the
transformative power of ideas nurtured within organizations like Students for
Liberty. Alumni like Elufisan continue to make significant contributions,
