COVID-19 NOTICES

30-March-2020 SPECIAL NOTICE - COVID-19 Pandemic (Coronavirus)

The health and safety of our members and participants are our first priority. As
such, we have decided to run ISIT 2020 as a virtual online conference on the
same dates, June 21-26, 2020, in a manner that resembles the in-person
experience as much as possible. This has been a very difficult decision, however
we believe that it is the best choice given the current circumstances. Further
information will be posted regarding the online platform that we will be using
for ISIT 2020, as well as the updated registration deadline/cost for accepted
papers. More information about registration deadline/cost will be posted soon.

PREVIOUS NOTICES

17-March-2020

Please know that our thoughts are with those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
(Coronavirus). The health and safety of our members and participants are our
first priority. We are closely monitoring any specific travel advisories through
official channels, which include the World Health Organization (WHO) and the
U.S. State Department.

Before traveling to the conference, we recommend that you stay informed of any
information your local health agencies may make available and take reasonable
precautions to protect yourself. IEEE continues to closely monitor this dynamic
situation and will provide updates with any developments.

The following proactive steps are being taken to maintain a safe and healthy
environment at the 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory
(ISIT):

 * We are committed to following regional jurisdiction guidelines and rules in
maintaining a safe environment for our attendees. The World Health
Organization’s (WHO) guidelines are located here
   (https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public).
 * We are working closely with The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in Los
Angeles and surrounding venues hosting official IEEE ISIT programming to
ensure there are sufficient medical processes in place and sanitation
   products readily available.
 * We are supporting individuals who may be unable to travel to Los Angeles from
   affected regions.
 * We will continue to provide timely WHO and other relevant updates as needed.

10-March-2020 The 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT)
is still scheduled to be held as planned, beginning June 21. The safety and
well-being of all conference participants is our priority. We will continue to
monitor official travel advisories related to the Corona Virus and update the
event website to keep you informed. We will also continue to monitor advisories
issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease
Control (CDC) as well as work with our local venue partners to remain current on
the city’s preparedness and recommendations. We urge all travelers to keep
informed and check for updated information on these sites:

Call for Recent Results

IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT) is the premier
international conference dedicated to the advancement of information theory and
related areas. It brings together an international community of researchers and
practitioners each year in the field of information theory to present and
discuss new research results and perspectives on future developments relevant to
all areas of information theory, including big data analytics, source and
channel coding, communication theory and systems, cryptography and security,
detection and estimation, emerging applications, networks, network
coding/information theory, signal processing, and statistical/machine learning.

Hosted by the IEEE Information Theory Society, the 2020 ISIT will feature
contributed papers, the Shannon lecture and plenary talks, as well as tutorial
sessions.

The city of Los Angeles (also known simply as L.A., and nicknamed the "City of
Angels") is the most populous city in California. Located on a broad basin in
Southern California, the city is surrounded by vast mountain ranges, valleys,
forests, beautiful beaches along the Pacific Ocean, and nearby desert. Los
Angeles is an important center of culture, medicine, agriculture, business,
finance, energy, aerospace, science, food processing, media, international
trade, and tourism. It is also home to University of Southern California (USC),
University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), California Institute of Technology
(Caltech), and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

We invite you to the 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory!
