In December 1930, the New York Times reported that a small merchant in the Bronx
went to a branch of the Bank of the United States and asked to sell his stock in
the institution. In some instances, bank runs were started simply by rumors of a
bank’s inability or unwillingness to pay out funds. The bank runs of 1930 were
followed by similar banking panics in the spring and fall of 1931 and the fall
of 1932. During a bank run, a bank must quickly liquidate loans and sell its
assets (often at rock-bottom prices) to come up with the necessary cash, and the
losses they suffer can threaten the bank’s solvency. Banks typically hold only a
fraction of deposits in cash at any one time, and lend out the rest to borrowers
or purchase interest-bearing assets like government securities. During a bank
run, a large number of depositors lose confidence in the security of their bank,
leading them all to withdraw their funds at once. The first of four separate
banking waves of panic began in the fall of 1930, when a bank run in Nashville,
Tennessee, kicked off a wave of similar incidents throughout the Southeast.

Some 650 banks failed in 1929 the number would rise to more than 1,300 the

WHO PLAYS YOUNG MADDIE IN EUPHORIA

Possibly because of her warped misconceptions of men, influenced by her cam-days
and long-time presence online.įerriera might have had her storyline cut because
of disagreements with Levinson, and while we may never know whether that’s true
or not, it’s an absence that’s keenly felt. She does break up with Ethan, though
she gaslights him into doing it - and we’re given the impression that she does
it because she can’t connect with him. She happily ended the first season with a
boyfriend, Ethan Daley (Austin Abrams), a cute guy in her science class.īut she
shows up this season for maybe 20 minutes in all? And most of it is cameos
standing next to Maddie. She cammed for men on the Internet, while she struggled
in real life to connect with men outside of sex.

Her storyline last season ran along with an exploration of her body and
sexuality. For me, a notable absence in many was one of my favorite characters,
Kat. Sadly, not all the episodes hit the mark. It was by far the best one of the
season. I fully expect Zendaya to receive another Emmy nod for her performance
in the fifth episode. She eventually gets through it, and as of the final
episode, Rue has apparently stayed clean through the end of the academic year.
More so, her drug addiction takes a backseat until the fifth episode, “Stand
Still Like The Hummingbird” which focuses almost entirely on her intervention,
instigated by Jules, and subsequent withdrawal. Her relationship problems,
between Jules Vaughn (Hunter Shaffer) and the newcomer Elliot Cortez (Dominic
Fike), take a backseat. Cassie apparently didn’t get the memo.Īnd while the
relationship dynamics between Cassie, Nate and Maddie are fascinating, and
produced some of the best “Euphoria” memes this season, Rue is lost in all the
drama. And everyone knows the one golden rule of friendship - don’t sleep with
your best friend’s ex. This season started with a hookup between Nate and Cassie
after he finds her alone at a gas station. Last season ended with Nate and
Maddie breaking up after he choked her at the local carnival, which propelled a
police investigation. To be fair, Nate is fairly traumatized like the rest of
the kids on the show, but I would like to reiterate for everyone reading that
your trauma does not excuse you from being an asshole. The show seemed less
about its star, Rue, and more about Cassie and her newfound relationship with
what might just be the devil incarnate - Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). While I’m
not cursing the man’s name out on Twitter, there are a couple of things that he
seems to have dropped the ball on this season. I’d say fans feel the same, in
that we’ve been living inside Levinson’s imagination this whole season, without
rhyme or reason on what’s going on. In her play, Lexie said she often felt like
she was living her entire life inside her imagination. It’s not exactly
flattering, especially to Cassie, who often overshadows her more soft-spoken

season two. Season one was critically acclaimed, and Zendaya, who stars in the
show as Rue Bennett, won an Emmy for her performance last season. It’s not an
easy show to watch, but it’s raw and true to the Gen Z experience.

The show focuses on a group of high schoolers in southern California, and their
various experiences with drugs, sex, love, friendships and all the lovely things
you tell your therapist about 10 years later. because Twitter won’t spare the
details for you. It has now become the most tweeted about show of the decade,
and anyone knows that if you want to avoid spoilers you watch the show at 9 p.m.
The hit HBO show has absolutely swept the internet and dominated the TV circuit
for the last few weeks.

2021 TESLA MODEL Y STANDARD RANGE SUV

During our time with this version, we were easily able to return over four miles
per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which results in a range of around 225 miles. The
entry-level Model Y with its 283-mile range is the latest addition to the lineup
and we think it offers an ideal balance between range and cost-effectiveness.
While this might appear to make owning a Tesla lose some of its lustre, it’s
worth remembering that most EV drivers still don’t have access to the full
network, nor do they get the same reduced charging prices as Tesla owners –
unless they pay a monthly subscription fee, that is. If you hadn’t already
heard, Tesla has recently begun to open up its all-encompassing Supercharger
network to non-Tesla owners across the UK, with all of the latest V4 chargers
being available to anyone with a compatible EV. That, combined with the energy
efficiency Teslas are renowned for, means it’s no surprise that the Model Y
boasts one of the longest range figures in its class. However, industry stats
tell us that the best-selling electric SUV is available with either 56kWh or
75kWh units, with three levels of regenerative braking to help maintain your
level of charge when out on the road. In short, it has not.Tesla likes to remain
coy about a lot of things, including the size of the Model Y’s battery packs.

It would have been one of the shocks of the century if Tesla had heightened a
Model 3 and spoiled it in the process. Plus, if the build quality continues on
this trajectory, one of Tesla’s real weaknesses against the European old guard
will eventually be kiboshed. Obviously that’s not as sexy as Autopilot or
Ludicrous Mode, but it’s going to make this a great car to live with, before you
get to the foolproof charging, frugal real-world electrical consumption, and all
the other stuff that makes Teslas genius electric all-rounders.

The Model Y is now the poster-car for ‘if you delete the engine, the gearbox,
the exhaust and all that fuel tank plumbing, then look how roomy you can make
the cabin, and look how much storage you can offer in the boot'. And it very
much is. What’s most interesting is this is the first Tesla we’ve driven where
the standout impression isn’t necessarily the acceleration, or the driver
assistance tech, or the world-class touchscreen, or even the built-in games and
