SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION

Find out more

SEO MORE THAN JUST SCIENCE

At Nettonic, our approach to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is more of a set
of strategic skills, than a mundane technique, which not only makes you visible
but also benefits you with a powerful online presence.

We do not believe in a one size fits all approach preferring to fit both your
budget and expectations, we have clients that spend £500 with us each month and
then others who pay many £1,000s. Our aim is simple rather than just taking your
money we match what can be achieved with the budget you are looking to invest.

To achieve successful optimisation it is important to follow basic guidelines to
ensure that your website is search engine friendly. However, even if you are
able to implement all our recommendations this will not necessarily guarantee
results.

WHAT IS SEO

SEO stands for search engine optimisation which is the process of modifying your
site so that it appears more prominently in search results. This typically
includes things like on-site optimisations, such as making sure you have a good
title and meta description to make sure people see what they are looking for
when searching online. It can also include off-site optimisations, such as link
building to help search engines better understand your site.

HOW SEARCH ENGINES WORK

Search engines use algorithms to rank sites based on relevance and popularity. A
‘search engine’ is simply an online service that crawls the World Wide Web for
content. Pages found by these services are then indexed so they can be searched
through keywords. Search engines make it possible to find web pages quickly
because they locate information according to where it’s published (in contrast
with directories) and allow users to search their indexes rather than going
through page after page of the material themselves. The types of words used in a
site’s text, title tag, metatag-elements, or other metadata will determine how
high up a site appears in search results when someone makes a query using those
phrases as queries.

OUR SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION APPROACH

Trust the basics

Know your Market

The first step of an effective Search Engine Optimisation is to understand your
target market. This doesn’t mean learning the personal lives of your customers,
but determining the specific demographic or bracket of people that you are
aiming to sell to. As much as possible, cover all the specific details that you
can about this potential customer. Is the customer male or female? What is his
or her age clause, educational background or yearly income? The more you know
your market, the better you will understand what keywords they will be using to
find your site.

Structure your site

When implementing any Search Engine Optimisation campaign consideration should
be given to on-site page layout for your site to be properly crawled and indexed
by search engine spiders. Correct use of page headers with H1 tags, paragraphs
and minimal use of HTML tags such as and images which make it harder for a
spider to view the content on the page.

Use words that work

A core element of all Search Engine Optimisation endeavours is keyword research.
Understanding who or what your target market is will make it easier to identify
what terms will be used to find it. However, since you cannot read minds of your
target Internet users, it’s better to use keyword tools in your research. Search
engines like Google or Yahoo feature free tools that will not only present you
with relevant keywords but will also show you the search rates of each keyword.
Remember we are trying to drive more traffic to our website so choose keywords
carefully. There is no point being on page 1 of Google for terms that no one
searches!

content is still king

The key to a successful Search Engine Optimisation campaign will be the correct
use of content. Content must be unique and relevant to the actual product or
service you are selling and not be repeated over numerous pages within your
website. Do not be tempted to stuff your keywords in an effort to get the
spiders to notice you. Any spamming is frowned upon and could affect your
overall position. Try to write content around your specific keywords that you
have targeted for each page. Use keyword grouping on pages to avoid the
temptation to create repetitive unnecessary internal pages.

Internal & external linking

Some would say that this is the most important element of Search Engine
Optimisation which when combined with good page content can accelerate organic
growth. The process can be broken down into two sections: Internal on-site
linking and external back-linking.

An internal linking structure is how you can guide a search engine spider around
your site easily and effectively. In its simplest form, the use of text
navigation menus or hyperlinks on internal pages can be used. Consider suitably
positioned anchor text to ensure that when the Search Engine spiders visit your
site they are guided from one page to the next.

External Backward links are recommendations from other sites and hence are
essential to your overall success. The more relevant links you have directed to
specific internal pages the better your website will perform. Forget about
quantity it is the quality of the link that counts!

Initial Client Consultation

Understanding what historical SEO activities have taken place on a site and
having an understanding of future expectations allows NetTonic to build a
bespoke strategy for each client. During the initial consultation, we will view
benchmark data showing where your site is positioned compared to your
competitors and discuss options based on investment.

Website Audit

A comprehensive SEO Audit is designed to provide a complete snapshot of the
state of health of a given website to ensure that the customer can build a solid
foundation for future online marketing efforts, maximise return on investment
and improve natural search rankings.

The key purpose of SEO Audits is to prepare a comprehensive report that covers
virtually all of the aspects that are hindering or preventing the website from
accurate ranking on the world’s leading search engines, as well as provide
detailed recommendations on how to remedy these problems.

Keyword Research

NetTonic will work to provide you with extensive keyword research along with a
competitive analysis to determine the best keywords to target. We will utilize
online tools, analytics, paid search data and a potential competition analysis.
Generally for each campaign we recommend a mix of short and long-tail phrases.

NetTonic will provide an initial report that will show your current position
within the search engines, current website traffic, keywords, etc. This will you
gauge the progress throughout the campaign. By directly reviewing and comparing
your competition, with regards to traffic, branding, and navigation, we have a
better knowledge of where you stand against your direct and indirect
competition.

Monthly Reporting

Nettonic operates an online facility that allows clients to manage all their
project data in one place thus eliminating the scenario where information
including emails, spreadsheets, and monthly reports are scattered across
different email messages.

Included in your monthly reporting will be information showing, completed tasks,
recommended actions, keyword positions, traffic trends, and organic conversions.

SEO Packages

Our services are extremely varied not in what we do but more in how much we do
for each client. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach and to better
understand how we can help we really need to understand your expectations. We

£1,000s what we have to do is match what can be achieved with the budget you are
looking to invest.
