THE BATTLE OF MALE ORGASMS VS FEMALE ORGASMS: IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?

Ah, the great, long orgasm battle between man vs woman. One of life’s greatest
mysteries of understanding what the opposite sex experiences during an orgasm.

In the past 3 years working on Lioness and talking about the data of orgasms, we
get a lot of questions about male vs female orgasms: “How do women orgasm?”
"What does an orgasm feel like for women?" “Are orgasms better for men or
women?” “Why are women’s orgasms more complicated than men’s?” “Can men use the
Lioness?”

For a while, I could only refer to different scientific papers and models which
gets overwhelming even for me to fully understand all the schools of thought.



For years, scholars and researchers have been trying to define the differences
between male and female sexual responses and orgasms. Some disagree with the
models that are published while others build on it, which can make this a tricky
and complicated subject. For example, one of the more popular models were
introduced by William H. Masters and Virginia Johnson in 1966. It's a four-stage
model called the human sexual response cycle: excitement, plateau, orgasm, and
resolution.

There are many more published models since, like Dr. Helen Kaplan's three-stage
model, Barry Singer’s model of sexual arousal and Rosemary Basson’s sexual
response cycle that focuses on specifically women’s sexual responses cycles.

But what does this all mean? Are we different or not?!

Luckily, because of my desire to share my orgasms with the world (double
penetration, weed lube, CBD) to help ignite curiosity in others and probably
THRILL my mom, I’m back to share more of my data. I found a rockstar, male
Lioness customer who wanted to share his anal masturbation orgasm data with the
world along with my vaginal masturbation data, so we can compare and contrast.

Before I get into it, there are a few things I’d like to note:

 1. This article uses the term female and male for cisgendered sexual anatomy
    and to describe sexual organs.
 2. Both data sets are from self-identifying cisgender people.
 3. This is as “scientific” and a controlled “experiment” as two people
    masturbating in their respective rooms with their Lionesses get.
 4. An “orgasm” can be a difficult thing to define because many medical
    professionals and researchers define orgasms differently.


THE MALE VS FEMALE ORGASM RESULTS

I’ve been so giddy with excitement waiting for my male participant to send me
over his data. As soon as I saw his session’s graph, it put a huge grin on my
face. It absolutely didn’t disappoint. Maybe you can see why.

Here’s mine:



“An orgasm for me feels like huge breath after holding your breath for a long
time. It’s this feeling of total relaxation and warmness through my body”

And here’s his:



“An orgasm for me feels like electricity is going through your body. It
intensifies more the moment you let go.”

Are you seeing it?! Don’t they look kind of similar? Of course, the Y-axis
representing force is much higher and contracting/releasing at a much larger
differences for the male data since anal muscles are much stronger than vaginal
muscles, but it’s pretty neat to see the entire session’s pattern be similar to
each other.

When you look just at the orgasm portion of each session, you can see there is a
rhythmic pelvic floor movement of consistent contraction and relaxation for both
the male anal and female vaginal data.


THE LESSON



Although this was more of a fun, observational experiment between the two of us,
it honestly helped relax my mind a little bit to realize that maybe the opposite
sex’s orgasms aren’t as much of a black box mystery as I always concluded it to
be. Especially after digging through scientific papers and articles, it only
made me more overwhelmed thinking that I’ll never fully understand. Of course,
there are so many aspects beyond physiological data that wasn’t captured by this
little experiment like emotional, age, disorders, arousal, etc, but it at least
made me take a breath and realize it doesn’t have to be a mysterious battle of
male versus female. It’s all just human responses!
