ABOUT SOME
Since 1970, SOME has been a care provider and a beacon of hope to residents in
our nation’s capital. Our services are available to individuals, families,
senior citizens, veterans, and those affected by physical or mental illness.
Every day, we strive to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through our
comprehensive Whole Person Care approach.

There are 1,295 residents enrolled in our affordable housing program, including
single adults, families and seniors.

Our Center for Employment Training graduates earn, on average, $18/hr—almost $2
more than DC’s minimum wage.

Every year, our clients make over 22,000 visits to a doctor, dentist, therapist
or case worker in one of our clinics.

This summer, while kids play and enjoy their summer break, many face hunger
when school meals aren’t available. Thanks to the Safeway Foundation’s
Nourishing Neighbors Program and O Organics, SOME will be able to provide
thousands of meals to the 363 children living in SOME's affordable housing
during these breaks. We are committed to food security so all children can

Meet Jennifer, a longtime supporter of SOME's mission and a recent volunteer
at our Spring Soiree! Jennifer understands the importance of food banks and
organizations that provide food to underserved communities. We love
volunteers like her who have a heart for the work we do. Big thanks to
everyone who donated canned goods to our food warehouse, which provides
weekly food distribution to our neighbors!

Shout out to our amazing volunteers from Deloitte who packed 300 snack bags
for our daily visitors! In celebration of their 25th anniversary of Impact
Day, Deloitte’s annual day of service in the community, they made snack bags
and toured our mental health day program, known as Isaiah house, our
warehouse and our food pantry. We’re always thrilled when our volunteers are
eager to learn about the ins and outs of our day-to-day service to the
community. Thank you for your dedication and support!
