PERSONAL LIFE

I am first generation college student born and raised in Bakersfield, California
in a Punjabi household. I am the youngest and first in my family to pursue a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.

In my free time I love spending time with my friends and family whether that is
going to dinner, game nights, or even binge watching TV shows. Additionally, I
love sports especially basketball and football as I am a huge Los Angeles Lakers
and Philadelphia Eagles fan. Lastly, one thing you may not know about me is that
I love food. I enjoy eating all types of food especially Indian and Mexican
food. A day filled with friends, family, sports, and food is the best thing I
could ask for. 

COLLEGE CAREER

I am currently a fourth year student at Whittier College with the goal of
graduating in May of 2023. I am a part of the PSI CHI chapter here at Whittier
College. Additionally, I have been involved in clubs such as the Pre-Health
Club, Psychology Club, Volleyball Club and the President of the Whittier College
Pre-Law Club.

I also do peer mentoring on campus with a Psychology Statistics class helping
students understand complex topics as well as applying those principles to real
life scenarios.

In 2021, I became a writer for two publications overseen by renowned author Joe
Donnelly at Whittier College, Poetnis: Drink In the Truth and Green Horizons.

CAREER ASPIRATIONS 

Once I graduate with my Bachelor of Arts Degree, I plan on going straight
through to a psychology Graduate Program to pursue my Psy.D. (Doctorate of
Psychology).

I am interested in taking a hands on approach when it comes to helping
impoverished communities realize they do not have to go through the process of
battling their physical illnesses alone. That is one of the biggest reasons I am
pursuing a PsyD in psychology because this degree gives me the best chance to
have clinical experience in a variety of settings. 

Additionally, I want to give a voice to the voiceless. A great clinical
psychologist not only helps people through their disorders and traumas but
allows their patients to be heard as well.

 I also want to be able to create a safe space for the patients where their
voice matters, and they do not feel like they are being labeled a certain way
but also feel like they are talking to someone who is genuinely interested in
their well-being.
