ABOUT US

The association Secours Sahraoui is a non-profit association, it was created in
2011 with the aim of providing development assistance as well as humanitarian
aid, including improving access to drinking water in the regions of Western
Sahara as well as in northwest of Mauritania.



In fact, Western Sahara and northwest of Mauritania are both located west of the
great Sahara Desert in Africa, where rainfall is scarce. Consequently, there is
a constant shortage of drinking water in all these regions. As a result,
thousands of people suffer from water-related diseases and complications every
year. In addition, thousands of livestock die every year due to drought.
Finally, agriculture is non-existent due to the lack of water, but mainly due to
the lack of means to set up a sustainable agriculture adapted to the desert
conditions.

An important and crucial point for our association is the involvement of
renewable energy in our projects. For example, the boreholes that we develop and
the wells that we equip work mainly with renewable energies, especially solar
energy.

Through this project and regular follow-ups, we hope to improve the living
conditions of these local populations as well as to ensure the sanitation of
drinking water in an ecological and sustainable way.





OUR PROJECTS 

Our association is involved in several areas of development such as water,
agriculture, electricity, renewable energy and training of local teams. The main
objective of our projects is to improve the living conditions of the local
populations and to empower them. This is why we have carried out several
projects in the field of electrification of various infrastructures such as
hospitals, schools and administrations, among others. But recently, we have
launched our two leading projects which are the Water For All Project and the
project for the Creation of Organic Agricultural Farms in this region, whose
objectives are as follows :


PROJECT OF THE CREATION OF ORGANIC AGRICULTURAL FARMS

 * The main objective of this project is to help farmers in these desert areas
   in the creation of agricultural farms to alleviate the over mortality of
   livestock and malnutrition of local populations.
 * To enable the farmers of these regions and their families to live with
   dignity from their work´s income.
 * Provide training to farmers and regular monitoring of their farm project to
   ensure its sustainability
 * Reduce rural-to-urban migration.
 * Repair the ecosystem in these areas by creating an oasis-like microclimate.
 * Helping to meet the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda in trying to
   eradicate poverty and end hunger.

PROJET WATER FOR ALL :

 * To provide access to water for the local population by providing solar pumps
   and building water towers to avoid the constant shortage of drinking water in
   these regions.
 * To provide training and regular work for local technicians, thus enabling
   them to gain professional experience.
 * To ensure the maintenance and proper use of these facilities through
   continuous training of local teams and regular monitoring by our team.
 * To ensure the sustainability of the project by educating local populations on
   the rational use of water to preserve the sustainability of resources.

   projects!
 * To be a volunteer: You can participate in our projects, both in their
   preparation, by bringing technical and/or administrative skills and in their
   direct realization on the field.
