The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine employs a distributive model of medical
education where students gain clinical experiences in a variety of hospitals and
health care settings across the state.

ELSON S. FLOYD COLLEGE OF MEDICINE RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN
DIVERSITY

The college earned a HEED Award, a national honor recognizing U.S. health
colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to
diversity and inclusion.


ALUMNI RETURN TO TRAIN FUTURE GENERATIONS OF PHYSICIAN LEADERS

As WSU’s first class of medical doctors complete their residencies and become
practicing physicians, many are settling in Washington and rejoining the College
of Medicine as faculty.


WSU JOINS NATIONAL PROGRAM TO SUPPORT INDIGENOUS-LED RESEARCH

Researchers were awarded $3.5 million to support Indigenous communities in
culturally grounded research on substance use and pain management.
