THE ISLAND HAVEN


A PLACE TO STAY IN TIMES OF NEED

 

We are a registered charity fundraising to build and equip a place for the
people of the Isles of Scilly to stay in times of need, when undergoing mainland
medical treatment.

The Island Haven will provide a comforting space for islanders undergoing
longer-term outpatient treatment, for loved ones accompanying patients during
emergency treatment, or for patients discharged overnight or at weekends when
travel home to the islands is impossible.



Currently, the need for islanders to pay for hotels, guesthouses or B&B
accommodation impacts family life, finances and mental wellbeing at a time when
stability is needed most.

Lack of accommodation availability, particularly during Cornwall’s peak tourist
season, has sometimes meant islanders cancelling appointments or being unable to
have their loved ones with them when they need it most.



The Island Haven will fundraise to acquire and equip a property on the mainland
that can be a “home from home” for islanders, providing much-needed, dedicated,
affordable accommodation when they need it most.

The Island Haven (Treliske) is a Registered Charity with the Charity Commission
(Charity Number 1187928)
