(Self-hosting is a common thread among the apps on this list.) Its primary
difference (aside from its open source license) is that your files are hosted on
your private Linux server or cloud, giving users complete control over your

but I'm still lost on what specifically I'm doing wrong. Spent several hours on
this, besides emailing the developer, who got back to me once. I've tried
running 4.6.3 in case the newer client might fix things. But the client from the
website is 4.6.3. It "flashes" if I un-plug and re-plug the wheel while the hub
is on the screen, but it NEVER "sees" the wheel like the Virtualhere USB for
"Android" (I guess that's what that version is) did.Īlso, when I run Virtualhere
for Steam, the client is 4.6.1. I've uninstalled and reinstall Bonjour, and told
it to "auto detect" the hub. The Steam Link app never sees my wheel connected to
the Shield TV. So I've tried that, but I've had nothing but trouble.

Only at this point I realized I needed to be running Virtualhere from Steam, and
not using the app I'd downloaded through Google Play.

Had trouble purchasing using PayPal while remoted in from the Shield, so I came
to the actual computer, purchased the software, and then went back the guest
room and tried to get things going. Word was it would work with my Shield TV,
and having purchased the app, I'd be licensed so I could use the wheel. Within a
few tries, I had my G29 wheel showing up in the Windows client, but I burned
through the 3 attempts before I got it working with Assetto Corsa.ĭid some
research online, both at the Virtualhere site and at here on Steam, and it
sounded like what I needed was the Virtualhere for Steam Link. So I started by
downloading Virtualhere from the Shield TV's "store".
