TOPICS: Jim Jordan Trump Prosecutors Congress Testimony Manhattan Verdict Political motivations WASHINGTON (TND) — Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, shared documents from the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on Friday demanding testimonies from two key Trump prosecutors. The release follows a verdict Thursday by a Manhattan jury finding the former president guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The Trump campaign reported earning a record $34.8 million across all small donors following the verdict. In letters addressed to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, Rep. Jordan explained the hearing will probe political motivations behind Trump’s conviction. > This hearing will examine actions by state and local prosecutors to engage > politically motivated prosecutors of federal officials, in particular the > recent political prosecution of President Donald Trump by the Manhattan > District Attorney’s Office." Rep. Jordan wrote. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R- Mich., reacted to the letters on social media. “I am glad to see @Jim_Jordan call Alvin Bragg before Congress,” he said. “There are more than a few questions that demand answers and the American people deserve those answers.” Committee member Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., filed a misconduct complaint Tuesday with the New York State Unified Court System, alleging its decision to select Acting Manhattan Justice Juan Merchan to preside over former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial was not "random." The judge has also overseen cases against the Trump organization and will soon handle a case against former Trump administration advisor Steve Bannon. “One cannot help but suspect that the ‘random selection’ at work in the assignment of Acting Justice Merchan, a Democrat Party donor, to these cases involving prominent Republicans, is in fact not random at all,” Rep. Stefanik wrote. BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT Follow Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news. Have a news tip? Send it to jacwalker@sbgtv.com.
