The NOAA-20 satellite captured this nighttime image on Nov. 21, showing a glow of light from the flowing lava. The image is color-enhanced, with bright lights shown in shades of yellow and darker areas in blue. The volcano is the round, bright yellow area in the lower left of this image, with nearby clouds illuminated by the eruption. Snow blankets higher elevations in the Olympic and Northern Cascade mountain ranges. About 2 feet (60 cm) of snow has accumulated so far near the base of Mt. Rainier, which is the isolated area of snow near the center of this image.
