ABOUT THE BCRI

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, part of the Birmingham Civil Rights
National Monument and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is a cultural
and educational research center that promotes a comprehensive understanding for
the significance of civil rights developments in Birmingham.

BCRI 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Culminating a week of festivities, our commemoration will feature a night of
great conversations, performances, reflection and a one-night-only special
exhibit highlighting thirty years of archival acquisitions and exquisite
programs. Take part in the festivities as we present the 2022 Rev. Fred L.
Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award and other honors.

RACE TO FREEDOM: AFRICAN AMERICANS IN SPORTS & THE MARATHON FOR PROGRESS

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI), in partnership with The Alabama
Sports Hall of Fame, NASCAR, Honda, Southern Custom Exhibits, Microsoft and The
Southern Center for Broadening Participation, is pleased to announce the opening
of a special exhibit this July in conjunction with The World Games.
