The daughter of a Delaware County police officer was struck and killed in a
hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia on Saturday.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The daughter of a Delaware County police officer was
struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Investigators have recovered the suspect vehicle, but say they are still
searching for the driver.

The crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. at 84th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard
in Southwest Philadelphia.

Officials say a Honda was traveling south on 84th Street and struck a
pedestrian, who was crossing westbound on Lindbergh Boulevard.

The vehicle fled the scene. Police described the car as a 2023 Honda Accord with
New York tags reading LDM-2367.

It was later recovered and towed by police. The driver remains unknown.

Medics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene of the crash.

"Upon arrival, they located a woman struck by a vehicle," recalled Philadelphia
Police Captain Anthony Mirabella Jr. "She was deceased at the time."

Officials later identified the victim as 27-year-old Ashley Gaylor-McLean from
Glenolden, Delaware County.

On Saturday afternoon, the Folcroft Borough Police Department in Delaware County
shared a GoFundMe link to its Facebook page, which announced that McLean was the
daughter of a Folcroft police officer.

McLean's mother has been on the force for about 17 years, officials say.

Delaware County Fraternal Order of Police President Chris Eiserman says McLean
was traveling home to Glenolden with friends when they stopped in Southwest
Philadelphia.

"For some reason, she got out of the car she was in and stepped into a lane of
traffic, and the driver struck her," said Eiserman.

Eiserman told Action News this tragedy has taken a massive toll on both the
family and the police department that watched the 27-year-old grow up.

He said this has been especially hard on McLean's mother, who is his longtime
friend.

"She's very upset and very distraught over this, so we're just trying to help
the mother and the family out the best we can," he said.

McLean also leaves behind a family of her own.

"She was a young mother of two. She had two beautiful girls and a full life
ahead of her," Eiserman said.

McLean's daughters are 2 and 7 years old, according to Eiserman.

She was also soon to be married to her fiancé.

The Delaware County FOP Lodge 27 is now offering a $15,000 reward for
information that leads to an arrest in this incident.

"Our reward is payable immediately if someone calls the police with a tip that
leads to the suspected driver," said Eiserman. "We'll pay it tomorrow if you
give us a tip today and let us know who was driving the car."

Police officers say they will not give up until the driver in this case is
caught.

"Her life was taken away, and the most important thing now is to find out the
driver of the car," said Eiserman. "I have no doubt they're going to find out
who was driving the car. We would just like to find out sooner rather than
later."

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call the police at
215-686-8477 (TIPS) or dial 911.
