The giant pink robots are a symbol for her cancer, and the humanity she is
trying to save is her own existence. It’s the most concept-like song on the
album, introducing us to the kung-fu master and her mission to defeat the giant
pink robots and save all of humanity. 1’ is a party for the main woman herself.
Probably one of the better known and most celebrated tracks on the album,
‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots: Pt. Towards the end of 3000–21’s bouncing
story, these monotone noises are the only things left and they bring us back to
the uncertainty that surrounds Yoshimi and her future.

Unit 3000–21 opens its eyes in ‘One More Robot/Sympathy 3000–21’, and in the
background of some strangely happy sounding lyrics about a robot developing
emotive capabilities, there is a constant flow of glitchy radio fuzz, and those
augmented vibes and sounds that prevent any of these tracks from falling into
the pop realm. There is an augmented vibe that ties the whole album together, as
a way of illustrating the mecha universe that acts as the stage for Yoshimi’s
battle with disease. It’s a great, simple melodic tribute to avoidance.

Setting all of this aside, the song doesn’t try to be complex, or present you
with the full force of the Lips’ experimental capabilities. The Lips now receive
25 per cent of the royalites for ‘Fight Test’, and Stevens gets the rest.

In 2003 it was agreed that the song bore a striking resemblance to Cat Stevens’
(Yusuf Islam) 1970’s song ‘Father and Son’, and a settlement was reached between
Sony/ATV Music Publicity and EMI Records. It’s a song about regret, and the all
too familiar feeling of having to face up to something difficult, which in this
case is fighting over a girl. Track one, ‘Fight Test’, is a slow roasted indie
jam with a half-borrowed recipe. Eventually, a forty-seven and a half minute
fusion of electronic, orchestral psychedelia and indie rock was born, on the
Warner Bros. The band had also lost a friend to illness some time before
this - also Japanese - and her death inspired them to write a song in her
memory. They joined her and her band in Austin, and it was a recording of her
scream (heard in ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Part 2’) that inspired visions
of a Japanese woman battling giant machines in singer and guitarist Wayne
Coyne’s mind. Her name was Yoshimi P-We, from the band The Boredoms. Around the
time the band began recording together with a new album in mind, a friend of
theirs was recording in Austin, Texas - the next state over to where the Flaming
Lips formed and made their debut in 1983. It is unintended, in that the band did
not set out with any story in mind when they began recording for the album, it
just ended up playing out that way. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is an
unintended concept album that tells the story of one Japanese woman’s battle
with cancer. But we're not paying you to repeat yourselves - move on.The
original album cover (middle) was drawn by vocalist Wayne CoyneĪ strange and
finely crafted masterpiece. And yes, "One More Robot/Sympathy 3000-21" actually
does sound like Neil Young singing on an outtake from an ELO album (1981's Time,
to be specific). The single "Do You Realize?" may be lyrically ideal for radio,
but it falls far short of the hummability of Bulletin, from "Waiting for a
Superman" to "Race for the Prize." Besides which, the concept album element,
which should've gotten annoying on Bulletin, finally does so on Yoshimi. As
such, Yoshimi has its moments, but it sounds like leftover brilliance from its
older, better brother, padded out with filler to make a new album. Like
Bulletin, Yoshimi is a vaguely conceptual work, awash in rich soundscapes that
separate into a dozen songs that are left to succeed or fail on their own.

was a Beatle-worthy masterpiece of lush pop or a high-pitched novelty best
described as ELO fronted by Neil Young, you've been waiting for the band's
follow-up.

This amazing mix of medieval, Slavic, and folk sounds/melodies comes together to
create a unique and exotic soundtrack full of fire and serenity in equal doses,
lending the world a kind of hyper-naturalism I've not felt in anything else
aside from Red Dead Redemption. Its soundtrack being strange, yet so cohesive is
absolutely fitting, and it has earned its spot as one of the best and strongest
soundtracks of 2015.Ītmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. But because it’s so
strange, it sounds so natural and fitting. It’s different, and out of context,
it sounds like the strangest thing, and even in context it sounds like the
strangest thing. Of course, the collection of different soundfonts and different
samples in every theme and from theme to theme is really… strange, but I kind of
dig it? It’s a testament to the fact to a lack of cohesion doesn’t necessarily
break a product because I feel as though Fox got what he wanted out of the game
and out of its soundtrack’s lack of cohesion. It’s probably a stupid and silly
reason, but I can’t help but to compare the soundtrack to what Nier the game
was: a collection of different references to everything else and nods to other
games woven into one thing. It’s an inspired album, internally and externally.
Undertale was a pleasure to experience, both the game, and its soundscape. Much
like the game itself it serves as an inspiration that even the best things come
in humble packages, and it drives me to want to improve as a creator. It
encompasses a wide variety of intense, fun, and emotionally captivating tracks
that beautifully represent every character, every moment and every beat in the
story. Part of this is thanks to the fantastic use of leitmotifs that echo
throughout the game and add a beautiful level of cohesion to every scene
associated with a certain character or event. Most of the tools behind the music
come in the simplest of forms and yet manages to be some of the most compelling
tunes to have ever been put out. Someone with an incredible sense of melody,
arrangement and composition. A person with a digital audio workstation and a
whole lot of soundfonts. Much like the game itself it was all made almost
entirely by one person.

In terms of game play, in terms of narrative, in terms of development,
everything it represents and it's music as well. Undertale is a game that keeps
proving so much of the industry wrong.

ANTIDOTE FOR TYLENOL OVERDOSE MUCOMYST

This was a retrospective cohort study of all patients admitted for treatment of
APAP poisoning to any hospital within our large, community-based hospital
system. It was also hypothesized that hospital LOS would be markedly (>24 h)
longer than the times of earliest laboratory evidence of clearance (the endpoint
of most patient-tailored treatment algorithms). It was hypothesized that LOS
would be decreased by early activated charcoal (AC) use, CPCS consultation,
early NAC use, and use of intravenous NAC. The aim was to describe the hospital
course of patients admitted to our large, community hospital system for
treatment of APAP overdose with particular focus on factors influencing hospital
length of stay (LOS). This retrospective study was designed to examine the
clinical management of admitted APAP poisoning patients by physicians in a
community hospital setting. Treatment of patients with chronic or repeated APAP
overdose present an even more complicated management problem. Considerable
controversy still exists within the toxicology community regarding the proper
endpoints for NAC therapy regardless of the route used. The Acetadote package
insert recommends a 21-h course of therapy however, this protocol may not be
appropriate for all patients with APAP poisoning. In 2004, the US FDA approved
an intravenous NAC preparation (Acetadote) giving practitioners another viable
treatment option. A shortened-course of oral NAC for selected cases of APAP
poisoning has been recommended by practitioners from the California Poison
Control System (CPCS) since before 2000, though no routine policy is in place.
Most protocols depend on an undetectable serum APAP level and normal (or
resolving) liver enzymes as clearance criteria. Though definitive research
evidence to “prove” efficacy of these protocols is lacking, many medical
toxicologists have adopted these strategies based on anecdotal experiences.
These protocols seek to truncate NAC therapy for patients showing evidence of
recovery. More recently experts have recommended patient-tailored approaches to
oral NAC treatment. The traditional treatment protocol for APAP poisoning in the
USA consists of a 72-h course of oral N-acetylcysteine (NAC). Patients
presenting with acute APAP overdose are risk stratified based on the
Rumack–Matthew nomogram. No studies examining the management of APAP overdose
outside of academic medical centers or poison control centers currently exist.
Unfortunately, little is known about the clinical management of APAP poisoning
cases by community physicians.

CPCS consultation appeared to decrease mean hospital LOS.Īcetaminophen (APAP)
overdose is the most common pharmaceutical poisoning reported to poison control
centers and remains the number one cause of medication overdose mortality. Use
of IV NAC did not impact hospital LOS. Many patients admitted for APAP overdose
had serum APAP levels below the minimum toxicity level.

Of 289 cases eligible for placement on the Rumack–Matthew nomogram (acute
ingestion with known time of ingestion <24 h and normal liver enzymes), 161
(55.7%) had APAP levels above the “200” line and 77 (26.6%) fell below the “150”
line. Eight patients (1.8%) were transferred for liver transplantation, but all
of these patients later recovered without transplant. Four hundred thirty-five
patients were included. Medical records were abstracted for patient demographic
data, key factors of overdose, California Poison Control System (CPCS) contact,
data regarding hospital course, transfer for liver transplantation, and death.
This was a retrospective cohort study of patients admitted to Kaiser Permanente
Northern California hospitals for APAP overdose from July 2003 through December
2007. Factors impacting hospital length of stay (LOS) were of particular
interest. The objective of this study was to examine the management of patients
admitted for treatment of APAP overdose. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is the
most common pharmaceutical poisoning.

to keep a permanent, concise record of complex source material. It focuses your
mind on the most relevant information.

#PROGRAMMING ARDUINO FOR MAC SERIAL

Used to receive (RX) and transmit (TX) TTL serial data. In addition, some pins
have specialised functions: Each pin can provide or receive a maximum of 40 mA
and has an internal pull-up resistor (disconnected by default) of 20-50 kOhms.
Input and OutputĮach of the 14 digital pins on the UNO can be used as an input
or output, using pinMode(), digitalWrite() and digitalRead() functions. It also
has 2 KB of SRAM and 1 KB of EEPROM (which can be read and written with the
EEPROM library). The ATmega328 has 32 KB Flash (with 0.5 KB used for the
bootloader). A properly configured shield can read the IOREF pin voltage and
select the appropriate power source or enable voltage translators on the outputs
for working with the 5V or 3.3V supplies. This pin on the Arduino board provides
the voltage reference with which the microcontroller operates. Maximum current
draw is 1 A (according to the power input source). A 3.3 volt supply generated
by the on-board regulator.

Supplying voltage via the 5V or 3.3V pins bypasses the regulator, and can damage
your board. The board can be supplied with power either from the DC power jack
(7 - 12V), the USB connector (5V), or the VIN pin of the board (7-12V). This pin
outputs a regulated 5V from the regulator on the board. You can supply voltage
through this pin, or, if supplying voltage via the power jack, access it through
this pin. The input voltage to the Arduino board when it's using an external
power source (as opposed to 5 volts from the USB connection or other regulated
power source).

If using more than 12V, the voltage regulator may overheat and damage the board.
If supplied with less than 7V, however, the 5V pin may supply less than five
volts and the board may be unstable. The board can operate on an external supply
of 6 to 20 volts. Leads from a battery can be inserted in the Gnd and Vin pin
headers of the POWER connector.

The adapter can be connected by plugging a 2.1mm center-positive plug into the
board's power jack. The power source is selected automatically.External
(non-USB) power can come either from an AC-to-DC adapter (wall-wart) or battery.
The Arduino UNO WiFi can be powered via the USB connection or with an external
power supply. (Or the device can act as an access point.) One useful feature of
UNO WiFi is support for OTA (over-the-air) programming, either for transfer of
Arduino sketches or Wi-Fi firmware. The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is a self contained
SoC with integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that can give access to your Wi-Fi
network. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller simply
connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with an AC-to-DC adapter
or battery to get started. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can
be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB
connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. The Arduino UNO
WiFi is the same as a Arduino UNO Rev3 but with an integrated Wi-Fi module! The
board is based on the ATmega328P with an ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module integrated

The WonderSwan is relatively obscure to begin with, so it’s probably safe to say
that a quirky game like Tane Wo Maku Tori is unknown to most gamers.


#OSWAN WONDERSWAN SERIES#

Anyone with an affinity for Nintendo’s classic Game and Watch series will feel
right at home with the game. Things can get pretty hectic after the first few
stages. Like most good puzzle games, Tane Wo Maku Tori is very easy to learn but
difficult to master. In essence, Tane Wo Maku Tori is a story of sorrow and
sowing. The raven spends the winter growing flowers with his tears while waiting
to be reunited with his friend. Incidentally, the tears in question belong to a
raven who is deeply saddened because his feathered friend has flown south for
the winter. It’s a simple concept, but the game comes with a small children’s
book to flesh out the story. Players will be able to group tears together to
form larger droplets, but they water itself can be intercepted by thirsty
snails, spiders, and other animals. The goal in Tane Wo Maku Tori (which roughly
translates to “Seed-sowing Bird”) is to use movable tree limbs to guide falling
tears onto the seeds below in order to help flowers grow. Rhyme Rider Kerorican
is another interesting rhythm game that deserves a mention for its unique art
style, but no game on this list serves as a better showcase for the WonderSwan’s
sound capabilities. The control scheme is somewhat awkward due to how the
buttons on the WonderSwan are arranged and it’s easy to miss certain notes
entirely, but it’s clear that a tremendous amount of effort went into making
Beatmania for WonderSwan the best arcade port it could be.

The WonderSwan had ample buttons to replicate the arcade game and even came with
a miniature turntable peripheral. Even vocals are included, and the sound
quality is vastly superior to the Game Boy port. Beatmania for WonderSwan is
actually based on Beatmania 3rdMix, and features surprisingly faithful
renditions of the original arcade tunes. (Keep in mind that this was 12 years
prior to the release of DJ Hero.) Players are judged on the timing of each input
and will be penalized for playing the wrong keys or scratching at the wrong
time. In Beatmania, players assume the role of a DJ and are challenged to follow
along with the onscreen instructions by manipulating five keys and a turntable
controller. Konami’s Beatmania hit arcades in 1997 and contributed greatly to
the popularity of music and rhythm games. Even though Moonlight Museum doesn’t
quite live up to its own potential, it’s still the best (and most charming)
platformer on the WonderSwan.

Moonlight Museum is available exclusively in black-and-white, but the game makes
good use of the WonderSwan’s hardware by allowing players to switch the
perspective from horizontal to vertical for certain levels.

The game is pretty easy and there are no bosses to speak of, but it’s a lot of
fun and has high replay value. Moonlight Museum would probably have benefited
from a little more action, however. Subsequent Klonoa games on the Game Boy
Advance were basically built off the same foundation.


#OSWAN WONDERSWAN PORTABLE#

As the first handheld game in the series, Moonlight Museum helped set the stage
for future portable releases and put a larger emphasis on environmental puzzles.
For obvious reasons, Moonlight Museum adopted a fully 2D style, but the
enemy-grabbing and double-jumping mechanics used in the original PlayStation
game were retained.

The first Klonoa was one of the best platformers available for the PlayStation
and helped pioneer the concept of “2.5D” games that used traditional 2D gameplay
within 3D environments.
