You may want to hold off on eating certain fruit you got at a grocery store in
Illinois.

According to NBC Chicago, fruit that has been linked to a deadly Listeria
outbreak was found to be sold at some grocery stores across the nation,
including a few in Illinois. The outbreak has left one person dead and multiple
people hospitalized.

Illinois has reported Listeria in connection to the outbreak.

WHERE THE RECALLED FRUIT WAS SOLD

Canva

The recalled fruit was sold at Publix, Walmart, and Albertson's stores around
the country and also at Aldi's stores in Illinois.

The recalled fruit includes some individual peaches and two-pound bags of
peaches, nectarines, and plums that were sold between May 1- Nov. 15 of this
year (the bags are branded HMC Farms).

If you have any of those fruits in the freezer or pantry, check for these
numbers on the stickers:

 * Yellow peach (4044 or 4038)
 * White peach (4401)
 * Yellow nectarine (4036 or 4378)
 * White nectarine (3035)
 * Red plum (4042)
 * Black plum (4040)

If your fruits have those numbers on the stickers, you're advised to throw it
away immediately. Keeping the fruit in the freezer does not kill the Listeria.

SYMPTOMS OF LISTERIA

Canva

If you've consumed any of those recalled fruits, you need to be vigilant and
look out for Listeria symptoms in yourself or anyone else who has eaten the
fruit. Symptoms include:

 * Vomiting
 * Nausea
 * Fever
 * Headaches
 * Neck stiffness

The greatest risk is for pregnant women, those with compromised immune systems,
the elderly, and kids. It can take up to 70 days for Listeria symptoms to show
up so keep an eye out.

10 WAYS TO BEAT POLLEN ALLERGIES

Those who struggle with pollen allergies know the struggle can be real. Runny
noses, watery eyes, and pure misery are just some of the things that come with
pollen allergies. Whether it's fall or spring in the Quad Cities, these 10
remedies can help combat those allergies and make you feel a lot better.

Wear A Mask

Townsquare Media

WEAR A MASK

Since we all got used to wearing a mask during the pandemic and wearing a mask
is fairly normalized now, don't be ashamed if wearing a mask helps with your
allergies. A mask will keep allergens from getting into your airways. An N95
respirator mask will block 95% of small particles, such as pollen and other
allergens, and help protect you from diseases.

Bathe After Being Outdoors

Townsquare Media

BATHE AFTER BEING OUTDOORS

Every time you’re outside and come indoors, you bring small particles in with
you. Particles stick on your clothes, shoes, hair, and skin are covered with
tiny particles from everywhere you’ve been. Take a shower or bath, and change
your clothes to wash away any allergens.

Stay Inside

Townsquare Media

STAY INSIDE

Allergens can't harm you if you don't go outside, right? Also, if it is a nice
day, you may be tempted to save some money and open the windows. Leave your
windows shut, especially if you have a pollen allergy and the pollen count is
high.

Drink Water Or Juice

Townsquare Media

DRINK WATER OR JUICE

WebMD says that the extra fluid from water, juice, or other healthy drink
options, can thin the mucus in your nasal passages, ultimately giving you some
relief from your allergies. Warm fluids like teas, broth, or soup have an added
benefit because they give off steam which can break up your mucus.

Neti Pot

NETI POT

A nasal rinse, like a Neti Pot, cleans mucus from your nose and can ease allergy
symptoms. WebMD says it can clean out bacteria and get rid of thin mucus. Most
store-bought nasal kits come with a solution to help clean out your nose.

Avoid Cigarette Smoke

Townsquare Media

AVOID CIGARETTE SMOKE

Cigarette smoke can be a trigger for some people with allergies. Smoke from
cigarettes, wood fires, and other sprays can worsen your runny, itchy, stuffy
nose and watery eyes.

Eat Healthy Foods

Townsquare Media

EAT HEALTHY FOODS

Healthy food is just always good for you in general. A healthy diet may help you
combat your allergies. Just like anything, the better you take care of your
body, the better you will feel.

Steam For Your Face

Townsquare Media

STEAM FOR YOUR FACE

Whether it's a steamy shower, or a bowl with hot water letting off steam,
putting your face in front of steam to get into your nose will help break up
mucus. This will give you relief if you are feeling miserable at the time due to
your allergies.

Take Allergy Medicine

Townsquare Media

TAKE ALLERGY MEDICINE

Over-the-counter medicine can clear up allergy symptoms pretty quickly. I use
Claritin, but other antihistamines can do the trick too. Make sure you follow
the instructions on the box or consult with your doctor if you have any
questions about a specific allergy relief medicine.

Consult Your Doctor

Townsquare Media

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Speaking of consulting with your doctor, if you have severe allergies, talk with
your doctor about what you can do. They may also prescribe you medicine to help
you fight your allergies. Doctors can also test you for your triggers to give
you a better idea of what to avoid so you aren't so miserable.
