in business. There’s a lot happening to celebrate that milestone, but looking
back over the last two decades of work, some of the best memories have been at

Home is everything to Drew and Ellie Holcomb. It’s a place to put their feet up,
hang out with family and friends, and get some much needed R&R in between tour
dates. Their Nashville space also doubles as an archive of memories, in the form
of old tour posters, art they collected while abroad, and souvenirs from family
trips. “My dad had this thing when we would travel where he would give us a
budget for trinkets,” says Drew. “He would always encourage us to buy something
‘real.’ So when I was eight years old, I bought a real tomahawk in Mesa Verde. I

Find Your People, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors are hitting tour dates all over
the country. When Ellie’s not traveling with them, she’s making her own music
and writing a book of aphorisms and motivations called Fighting Words. Given
Billy’s love of music, travel, and family, it was high time for a catch up with
the duo. After returning from a cross-country road trip with their three kids,
we sat down at their East Nashville home base to talk all things music,

The grill is on, the drinks are cold, and the music’s playing. The main event at
the Reid house is what our friend Jacob named “Cajun Dogs.” Billy calls them
Conecuh Dogs, because we use Conecuh Sausage. Here’s our recipe: 1. Slice
jalapeño peppers lengthwise. 2. Stuff jalapeños with cream cheese. 3. Grill
peppers alongside the sausages. (Use a grill pan to keep the stuffed peppers
from falling through the grate.) 4. Put the grilled stuffed jalapeños and
grilled sausage on a sesame seed hot dog bun. 5. Plate out condiments and
chopped veggies for people to add. It’s got a little kick to it and a fun
process to make and experiment. If the summer sun doesn’t give you enough heat,
these things definitely will. — Billy

honor of Rickwood Field ⚾️ The interest in our limited-edition merchandise

It has been our biggest pleasure to partner with our friends at @rickwood_field
to celebrate the history of America’s oldest ballpark. We had the great honor of
recognizing the league by refurbishing the gift shop at Rickwood Field and
designing limited-edition merchandise to commemorate the impact Rickwood has had
on the game. Rickwood Field opened in 1910 and is the former home of the
Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. We want to extend a special thank
you to Gerald Watkins, the Chairman/Executive Director of Rickwood, Reverend
William Henry Greason, one of the first Black marines in US history who also
played for the Birmingham Black Barons, Don Lupo, the Operations Manager of the
City of Birmingham, all amazing groundskeeping staff at Rickwood Field, and all
the Friends of Rickwood.

Baseball is more than just America’s pastime. It’s a longstanding tradition for
Juneteenth celebrations. From pick-up games to entire main streets of Texas
towns shutting down so that folks could attend exhibitions between local teams,
Juneteenth’s history with baseball dates back to the early days of the sport. In
the spirit of the holiday, America’s second Indepdence Day, we’re celebrating
with Friends of Rickwood @rickwood_field to remember the history and impact the
players from the Negro Leagues have made to the game. Today we’d also like to
remember Willie Mays (pictured bottom of the second photo). At just 17 years
old, Mays became a starter on the team the Black Barons. Contributing to key
hits he helped the Barons secure victories and led them into their only win in
the 1948 Negro League World Series. He played two summers on the Barons before
starting a major league career earning the title of one of the greatest baseball
player in history.
