MAKE A DIFFERENCE NATIONAL EVENTS AND MARKETING STRATEGIST MAR 2014 - MAR 2015 MAD reaches out to children at risk in orphanages and street shelters and implements projects that provide these children with the skills that guarantee employment, role models they can relate to and exposure that helps them dream big. Currently, close to 2000 Make A Difference volunteers work with about 5000 children in the Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guntur, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Vellore, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. As the National Events and Marketing Strategist,I work as an idea-generator that'll help city teams to attract the like minded and potential volunteers to the organisation and also raise funds. We are a movement of young people taking ownership of the institutionalized children in our community. As a PR fellow I worked towards the increasing the outreach of MAD in Chennai by organizing events in Chennai and pan-India and building media relations for the years to come. I closely worked with Human Resource team to co-create recruitment campaigns and volunteer engagement plans both online and on-ground. During the fellowship the team organised Back-a-thon an event where participants significantly walk backwards to push illiteracy back on September,8 2013 World Literacy Day. Chennai had the highest participation with 400 participants walking the change. We also organised a MAD week to celebrate MAD's birthday which was spread across seven days. MAD WEEK MAD WEEK STARTED OFF ON THE CONCEPT OF RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS AND EVENTUALLY DEVELOPED INTO A WEEK LONG ACTIVITY THAT IS CONDUCTED EVERY YEAR IN THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER. In Chennai I worked with a team of 15 volunteers for the on-ground execution of the event and successfully completed the event with maximum number of participants (400) in the entire country. November 1st '14 being the 8th birthday of Make A Difference is celebrated for seven days where the MAD Volunteers are seen all over, spreading happiness in every way possible. Over the past 8 years, MAD has impacted the lives of thousands of children through the English Project, Library Project and the Placements Project. MAD, today, is a platform that empowers youth to become change leaders who make positive social impact and create self sustaining communities. A series of events are planned for the entire week, which will be executed as per schedule. After all, happiness is magnified only when it is shared. Happiness is absolutely contagious! I worked towards conceptualizing the events and activities and media relations for Chennai as a PR fellow and consecutively in 2014 worked with fellows of 23 cities to support them with event idea generation, plan of action and execution remotely from Chennai.
