WORLD BANK’S STUDY TO UNDERSTAND THE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES AS
SUPPLIER FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT IN INDIA

The World Bank (www.worldbank.org) is the largest Multilateral Development Bank
(MDB), which provided financing to the tune of US$ 115 Billion during 2022. In
addition, the World Bank also contributes to generation of knowledge in the form
of research, studies, reports etc. Public Procurement is one of the focus areas
for research by the World Bank as countries across the world spend up to 20% of
their GDP through public procurement, which directly impacts development in
these countries.

India annually spends about US$ 700 Billion on public procurement, however very
few of these contracts are awarded to women-owned business. To understand the
underlying reasons for this low rate of award of contracts to women-owned
businesses as well as to suggest remedial measures, the World Bank is conducting
a study.

We would be thankful if you kindly spare a few minutes to participate in a
survey to contribute your valuable views to this study. This should not take
more than 5-10 minutes of your time.

TESTIMONIALS

Certificate Program in Public Procurement (CPPP) is a well-designed program that
could benefit both junior and senior procurement specialists. I really
appreciate its interactive environment which gives trainees a chance to counter
real-life issues that are rare to be found in traditional training programs.

Lama Assasa, Syria

The CPPP course gives a deep understanding of all aspects in public procurement
procedures. It covers topics such as best practices for developing
specifications, procedures used during the procurement process, how to write the
Request for Tender document, implementing the public procurement process, and
the ethics associated with the procurement process.

Samba Diop (CPPP French), Togo

I found the Certificate Program in Public Procurement (CPPP) a brilliant program
with combination of vital topics from Supply Chain Management, important
procurement processes, corruption & fraudulent practices, integrity and
accountability principles, which were incredibly practical.

Yunus Salehy, Afghanistan

The practical approach manifested in the training program shall widen your
expertise on the public procurement. I warmly welcome everybody who requires
adding a procurement knowledge approach to this highly regarded institution.

Kejela Fufa Yadeta, Ethiopia

It was important for me to acquire a professional certification in my chosen
field of operation and the World Bank sponsored CPPP provided me with the right
platform for obtaining this certification through a well designed competency
testing procedure which is highly relevant to public procurement operations
required for internationally funded development programs.

Deb Majumdar, India

The integrated course (CPPP) puts forth a detailed view of all procurement
procedures in such a simple and effective manner that one can easily understand
this complex subject.

Ekta Bhardwaj, India

My motivation to complete CPPP comes from the fact that our organization, the
Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (SPPRA) is a statutory regulatory
body, which is mandated to, among other things, professionalize public
procurement. While developing our internal training plan and a public
procurement capacity building strategy for the country, we have committed to
doing CPPP as a start, mainly because CPPP has been endorsed by The World Bank.

Bongani Motsa, Swaziland

A good initiative by wbg for capacity building in the crucial area of public
procurement.

Saif Rehman PMP

Happy to announce that I have just landed a World Bank Certificate Program in
Public Procurement in partnership with the Charter for Public Procurement
Studies (CPPS).
Thanks, Procurement Learning!!

Mohamed ZitouniSenior Procurement Specialist (CPPP)

Nice one there! I was able to complete both the CPPP and CPCM successfully, even
with a distinction in CPPP.

Edmond Danuba CPPP, CPCM, BSC, HND

I am grateful for the opportunity to undertake the free course. It was of great
improvement in understanding the various functions relating to procurement.

Alex GichohiProcurement Officer at Kenya Revenue Authority

Hi, I really appreciate the PDPP course structure. I benefited a lot.
