GLOBAL HUNGER HAS REACHED UNPRECEDENTED LEVELS

Rising costs, extreme weather, the pandemic, and regional conflicts — including
the war in Ukraine — are fueling this crisis.

Ukraine and the Russian Federation provide 30% of the world’s cereal grains and
two-thirds of the world’s sunflower oil.

22 million children at risk … how many is that?

It’s the combined populations of New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston,
Phoenix, and Philadelphia.

TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A LIFE-SAVING IMPACT

World Vision is the World Food Programme’s
largest
food distribution partner.

Over the last 10 years,

89%
of the severely malnourished children
we treated
made a full recovery.

THREE WAYS TO FIGHT GLOBAL HUNGER

With the help of our generous donors, we’re responding in 26 hardest-hit
countries, aiming to reach 22 million people through the largest-ever
humanitarian response in our 70-year history. This goal is ambitious, but we
know it’s achievable with your help.

PRAY TO END GLOBAL HUNGER

Your prayers for kids and families affected by the global hunger crisis can work
miracles. Please pray for:

The millions of people facing food shortages and the threat of famine

Children whose health is suffering due to malnutrition

That kids will get the food they need to learn, grow, and thrive

For our local staff and all those working in the toughest areas to respond to
this crisis

REAL FAMILIES ARE EXPERIENCING REAL HUNGER

Displaced children are forced to weigh the odds of which life-threatening
situation they will be subjected to. Sometimes the risk of going out to find
food is too dangerous, but the risk of suffering malnutrition is just as
worrying.
“I don’t eat every day because my mother has no money.”

Melvina, Central African Republic

59% of people in Afghanistan are in need of humanitarian assistance, and up to
97% of the country is at risk of falling below the poverty line.
“If you were starving and you knew that selling one of your kids could prevent
the others from dying, would you do it?”

Asuntha Charles, national director of World Vision Afghanistan

76% of Venezuela's population lives in poverty. When Danfred's grandmother
nearly died from COVID-19, he considered begging in the streets for food.
“Sometimes we did not have any food, other times we asked other families to give
us some food.“

Danfred, Venezuela

“The world is experiencing its worst hunger crisis of modern time. There are 50
million worldwide on the brink of starvation, and half of those are children.”

—Edgar Sandoval Sr., president and CEO of World Vision U.S.
