Accelerating cloud adoption and digital transformation in the media industry



Doha, Qatar: Global sports and entertainment broadcaster beIN MEDIA GROUP
(“beIN”) and Microsoft have reinforced their commitment to transforming the
media industry and reinventing the broadcast experience by signing a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) that strengthens their long-standing partnership. .

The MoU was signed at beIN’s Middle East and North Africa (MENA) headquarters in
Doha through Mohammad Al-Subaie, CEO of beIN MENA, and Lana Khalaf, Country
Managing Director, Microsoft Qatar, and in the presence of Samer Abu Ltaif, Vice
President and President of the company. microsoft MEA and Israel Esteban, Chief
Technology Officer, beIN Media Group.

The deal will see beIN and Microsoft combine their expertise to expand artistic
products and responses to provide exclusive fan engagement and delight in the
upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM and beyond. Earlier this year, beIN
partnered with Microsoft and others to verify the use of 5G capability to drive
advances in cloud-based remote production for live sports. Lessons learned from
verification at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021TM have proven to be key to
developing exciting new broadcast capabilities.

In addition, the MoU will see the two corporations explore agile and
cutting-edge responses to promote operational excellence by leveraging the power
of artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics, as well as Microsoft’s vast
global ecosystem of partners. The two will also work in combination to design a
generation roadmap that uses the strength of the cloud to contribute to beIN’s
plans to achieve load optimization, operational excellence and adoption of the
most productive practices across the IT landscape.

The Economist, in partnership with Microsoft, conducted a survey of the media
and communications industry for its report The Transformation Imperative.
According to the report, cloud computing is the most sensible because of its
role in creating a solid foundation for transformation and scalability to
distribute “huge volumes of content to a wide audience. “

This new collaboration between beIN and Microsoft precedes the launch of the
Microsoft Cloud Datacenter region in Qatar, which will provide a comprehensive
set of enterprise-grade cloud installations for developers and enterprises of
all sizes to create new experiences for visitors, their businesses and
operations, and drive the speed of innovation.
