Our filmmaker, Dhaval Jajal, has captured the essence of the Dayara Bugyal trek in a beautiful film of 7 minutes. The film truly shows you that Dayara Bugyal is not just a trek. It goes much beyond that for all of us at Indiahikes. Dayara is at its finest in the prime of winter — January and February. Carpets of snow are what you can expect to see in Dayara. Click here to read details about Dayara Bugyal VOLUNTEER FOR A FUTURISTIC HIMALAYAN LEARNING PROGRAM Volunteering for an experiential learning program is deeply rewarding. You not only get to trek in some of the most beautiful locations in our country, but you also get to be part of a futuristic learning program. Such volunteering is rare. We only open these opportunities once or twice a year at Indiahikes. Today, I am writing to you with one such opportunity. In March 2023, we will run an intensive experiential learning program with schools. We’ll have over 500 students trekking with us. As a volunteer, you will be part of the facilitation team. Your role is crucial in helping us administer the program. Apply to be a Volunteer JOIN THE 'WOMEN ONLY' TREK TO KEDARKANTHA! For the first time ever at Indiahikes, we have opened a Women Only trek to Kedarkantha this year! What’s even more special is that the all women team will be climbing the Kedarkantha summit on International Women’s Day, March 8th. At Indiahikes, we cannot think of a more significant way to mark the occasion. With our vision that Everyone Must Trek, we have always dreamed of more women trekking. True to our vision, we have seen encouraging changes over the years. The Women Only Trek to Kedarkantha starts on March 5th and ends on March 10th. This means the team will be scaling the Kedarkantha peak on Women’s Day, an apt way to celebrate the day. View Weekend Treks TREKKERS ENJOY FRESH SNOWFALL ON BRAHMATAL TREK Trekkers from the 30th January group ended their trek on a high note when it suddenly started snowing on the way from Brahmatal to Lohajung basecamp. Immediately trekkers started jumping around and started playing with the snow. Fortunately, we were able to capture this beautiful happy moment. If you’re feeling low, underconfident, or finding it hard to overcome difficulties, this trek is meant for you. If you’re overcoming the loss of someone, or are unable to focus on your professional life, this trek will work wonderfully for you. This trek is going to be held at the beautiful Dayara Bugyal. The base camp, the campsites, the meadows, and the mountain views, all lend themselves to a great setting for therapy. Register for Adventure Therapy Trek WHY JAN-FEB ‘23 TREKS ARE BETTER THAN ‘22 Let me first give you the bad news. All our winter treks have experienced a 'dry winter' this December 2022. It has not snowed at all! But there is good news as well. There is prediction of snowfall soon! A moderate Western Disturbance is building up. As predicted, skies have begun to turn overcast in the mountains. It could start snowing any time now. There are a few more western disturbances expected for the rest of January and February, making the winter experience Jan-Feb 2023 something to look forward to! Winter is among the best seasons to experience snow on treks. To experience maximum snow, higher chances of snowfall and least crowds, choose Jan, Feb or March to do any of the treks below. Winter lasts all the way till mid-March. * Dayara Bugyal * Deoriatal-Chandrashila * Brahmatal * Kedarkantha * Kuari Pass * Sandakphu * Ali Bedni Bugyal * Chhattisgarh Jungle Trek (non snow trek) What are some easy treks for beginners? It’s wonderful that you’re planning to start trekking in the Himalayas. You’d be happy to know that around 70% of our trekkers are beginners and always get hooked to trekking after their first trek! Having said that, you must choose your trek wisely — something that is not too difficult, yet will allow you to experience the grand settings of the Himalayas. From a decade of experience, these are the treks we find best suited for beginners: * Dayara Bugyal * Deoriatal-Chandrashila * Brahmatal * Kedarkantha * Kuari Pass * Ali Bedni Bugyal Even though these treks are considered good for beginners, they need at least 30-45 days of preparation on your part. Ensure you go for the trek only after physically preparing for it. Is it true that I can repeat a trek with Indiahikes, without paying for it? Yes, we do have a “Repeat my trek” policy, and trekkers love it. This is because there are some thoughts and ideologies that we hold close to our hearts. 1. As trekkers, there are times when we have to let go of a trek midway. Sometimes we fall ill or get hit by AMS or at times simply fatigue pulls us down. At other times bad weather plays spoilsport, or the trail is blocked. Your Trek Leader may send you down due to a safety or health issue. At Indiahikes we feel terrible when such an event happens. Should such a situation occur that you have to drop out from this trek, we want you to know that we feel as bad as you do. You can always come back another time and finish your adventure. For this, you do not have to pay Indiahikes any money. 2. On the other hand, there are times when you fall in love with a trek. So much so that you want to do it again, perhaps see it in another season. If you ever desire to do a trek again, please do so. You don’t have to pay Indiahikes any money for repeating this trek. Just inform your Experience Coordinator who will guide you through a special internal process. Our only request: Just register for your trek in advance – you know how it is with our groups – they get booked in advance. Note: The Indiahikes “Repeat My Trek” policy does not apply to our international treks. How can I work with Indiahikes? This is something many trekkers ask us. In case you have rented a trekking backpack, you may use the cloakroom facility to keep your extra luggage. We want you to travel as light as possible from your home. Renting of items close 3 days before the start of the trek. Can I join your treks as a solo trekker? Yes, absolutely. Many solo trekkers join our teams and have wonderful experiences. They end up meeting like-minded people on the trek and don't feel like they have come along on the trek anymore. Our pre-trek experienced team ensures that you know your entire team well much before you actually head out on the trek. Additionally, we have several women trekkers who join us solo as well because of the safety they get with the Indiahikes team. You're welcome to join us as a solo trekker too.
